Lil B – Bay Area rapper, Based God and Bernie Sanders supporter – made plenty of waves during the NBA Playoffs when he cursed LeBron James and J.R. Smith for their hubris, and though he'd subsequently lift the bad juju on LBJ, apparently the rest of the league was paying attention.

Or at least the D-League was. This week, the Delaware 87ers, the Philadelphia 76ers' developmental squad, extended a tryout invitation to B. All he has to do is show up at the New Castle Police Athletic League facility on September 19, where he'll compete alongside other hoops hopefuls for a spot on the team.

Well, there you have it. I figured this would be coming. After bringing his unloaded guns to the Verizon Center in an effort to play a joke on one of his teammates, Gilbert Arenas of the Washington Wizards has been suspended indefinitely by NBA commissioner David Stern.

According to Yahoo! Sports, Stern wasn't expected to make the decision of suspension until after the investigation of this incident by federal and local authorities was through. However, at a Philadelphia game this week, Gilbert made gestures with his index fingers, pointing them at his teammates as if they were guns. I guess Stern felt that Gilbert was making light of the situation and decided then that Gilbert would be suspended.

“Although it is clear that the actions of Mr. Arenas will ultimately result in a substantial suspension, and perhaps worse, his ongoing conduct has led me to conclude that he is not currently fit to take the court in an NBA game,” Stern said in a statement. “Accordingly, I am suspending Mr. Arenas indefinitely, without pay, effective immediately pending the completion of the investigation by the NBA.”

With each game he misses, Gilbert will lose about $147,200 of the $16.2 million he will earn in the second season of a six-year, $111 million contract. "I feel very badly that my actions have caused the NBA to suspend me, but I understand why the league took this action,” Gilbert said in a statement through his attorney. “I put the NBA in a negative light and let down my teammates and our fans. I am very sorry for doing that.”

He shouldn't have done it. Period. Whether it was a joke or not, he shouldn't have done it. I'm not trying to preach. Just trying to be real. I love reading about celebrities, love doing these stories on them. However, they all have got to realize (and a lot of them do), that with their celebrity status, they have become ROLE MODELS. People do look up to them, and will copy their actions. This mistake by Gilbert Arenas can make other people, kids even, think that it's cool just to tote guns around and use them for anything. I'm not saying banish guns, but people shouldn't use them unless they are ABSOLUTELY necessary to defend your life or the life of your family. And definitely not for a joke. It's in bad taste.

And it also makes the NBA as a whole look bad. I mean, here you have one of the NBA's star players playing around with guns like it's nothing. It's just not a good look. So I have to say, I think that he did deserve the suspension because guns is definitely not a laughing matter. He should've known better, but hopefully he has learned from this situation and will think before he acts next time around.

PEACE.

Well, it's the end of an era. After leaving the Memphis Grizzlies and reports surfacing that he was going to retire, Allen Iverson has officially announced that he will be retiring from the NBA.

According to ESPN.com, Allen believes that his retirement will give him more time to spend with his wife and kids. However, he acknowleges, as well as several others working in the NBA, that he is still more than capable than continuing. It was his decision to just move on.

Allen came in the NBA as the number 1 draft pick for the Philadelphia 76ers in 1996 and had a successful stint with them, even leading the team to the NBA Finals in the 2000-01 season. After being traded from the Sixers in 2006, Allen went on to play for the Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, and lastly for the Grizzlies.

Wow...never saw this coming. I mean, Allen is 34 so his time to retire was probably coming, but he just seemed like the type of player that would last forever, you know? Like my man Dwyane Wade (LOOOVVVEE HIM!!!!). But I mean, it's better to go out while you still kind of on top, than to be looked at like "Why is your behind still in the game?" (*cough cough Shaq* yeah your time been here just saying LOL). So congrats on your retirement Allen...enjoy the time with the fam.

PEACE.
