Last night was the hour long SEASON FINALE of Zoe Ever After! Picking up from last week, Zoe goes out on a date with a new guy named Curtis, who she met when she was out getting coffee. She doesn't really want to talk about her ex, but admits that she was married to Gemini Moon. However, Curtis doesn't follow boxing, so he has no idea who Gemini is, giving Zoe hope that he's all about her. However, when he sees Serena Williams in the restaurant, he runs for her picture, and wants Zoe to take it! Another date fail!

Later, in the gym, Gemini is mad at Ashley for the fluff piece she did on Juarez while painting him out to be washed up. She was trying to be a real journalist, but he's mad because he let his guard down with her. Meanwhile, Zoe has a meeting with her team about the brand. Pearl is absent, supposedly due to her uncle's funeral, according to Valente. Zoe continues the meeting, while Pearl comes in late, looking like she's hurting!  Turns out that Pearl is dating some fitness-obsessed guy Jeremy, so he's definitely working her hard in the gym! However, she mentions that he was passing by a ring store, and asked Pearl what kind of ring she likes, giving her hope for a wedding after all! Pearl also has some good news for Zoe. She got Zoe a meeting with Melanie Foster, who is a distributor to all of the major retailers and could take Zoe Moon Cosmetics to the next level!

Later, Melanie Foster comes into the office to meet with Zoe, and definitely seems like a no-nonsense type of woman. Zoe is extra hype, and Valente tries to help out with the meeting before Zoe finally kicks him out. Melanie asks if the company has a spokeswoman, which Zoe doesn't quite have yet. She has the products down, but not the personality to sell the concept. Melanie thinks the she should use Gemini in her advertising and just find a model to hang onto him. Of course, Zoe really wants to do this on her own without Gemini's help, but Melanie won't hear it. She tells Zoe to let her know when Gemini is on board. Otherwise, they can't do anything together.

Afterwards, Zoe freaks out about the meeting in front of Miguel. She vents about how this is her company, not Gemini's, and she is adamant about not needing his help. All Miguel can do is stare at first, but tries to give her some advice. If this distributor could raise the company sales, wouldn't it be worth it to use Gemini? Zoe keeps saying that she's over her ex-husband, so Miguel advises her to make it about business, not feelings. He opens up about how it took him another extra five years to expand because he didn't ask for help from his cousin since they don't like each other. Miguel warns Zoe to learn from his mistakes.

Later, Jeremy takes Pearl rock climbing, challenging her to be "the best version of herself." Pearl ends up getting halfway up the wall, while Jeremy leaves her behind. However, she eventually falls and paramedics have to be called. A gorgeous paramedic tells her that there's nothing wrong with the version of herself right now, flirting while she's on the stretcher. Pearl breaks up with Jeremy boldly, impressing the paramedic! The two continue to flirt as Pearl asks him to check her vitals!

Zoe goes to see Gemini at the gym, trying to flatter him, but he wants her to just get to the point. She tells him about the meeting with Melanie, and how she wants him to be in an ad for Zoe Moon Cosmetics. Gemini is still mad about Zoe refusing to be a part of the documentary. Zoe feels like this is about business, and that it could be a win-win for both of them. However, Gemini states firmly that his business is boxing, which he feels like she put in jeopardy by not supporting him and this documentary. Zoe was irritated that he brought in a camera crew without telling her, along with Ashley, who she believes Gemini used to sleep with. When Gemini states that nothing happened between them back then, Zoe questions him about that! He implies that something happened, and correctly tells her that she can't be jealous. Gemini's simply doing him!  Zoe gets upset and petty, stating that maybe she'll check out his opponent Juarez for the ad!

That night, Zoe and Pearl have drinks, and Zoe vents about the company. Something big has to happen soon, or the company may flop. She wonders where will they find someone young, beautiful, and relatable? At that moment, Jordin Sparks comes up to her, raving about Zoe Moon Cosmetics. Zoe simply thanks her, but Pearl brings her to reality, telling Zoe that Jordin should be the spokesmodel! Jordin does the shoot and kills it!

In the second part of the episode, Pearl is actually getting married to the paramedic Earl! She, Zoe, and Valente plan to get turnt for her bachelorette party. Zoe even hired a stripper, though it's probably inappropriate in the bar they're sitting in, surrounded by people. At that moment, Stephen comes in and sees Zoe, and it gets uncomfortable since she's grinding on this stripper! However, he's clearly still feeling a way after the rundown with Gemini a few weeks back. Zoe sends a shot to him, but he refuses it. Zoe goes up to him to apologize. However, Stephen feels like she has a lot going on in her life, and he's not sure he needs that baggage in his life right now. Zoe plays it off, but she's definitely a little upset by his words.

The next day, Gemini brings Xavier over to Zoe's condo. Xavier says that Gemini told him he could go to the fight, which Zoe shuts down. He doesn't think that Xavier should be exposed to violence this young. Gemini thinks that Zoe plans to be there to watch X, but she confesses that she's actually not. She'll be at Pearl's wedding. Zoe states firmly that Xavier isn't going, but that, afterwards, Gemini can call Xavier to tell him that he won. Gemini admits that he likes this calm version of her, and it's good to see them in a better space.

At the office, everyone is prepping for the wedding. Zoe wears her maid of honor dress, and looks great! Miguel is, of course, impressed by her look, maybe a little more than he's letting on. Zoe asks if he's bringing his girlfriend Alejandra to the wedding, and, without answering, he then asks if she's bringing Stephen. Clearly, there's some underlying feelings there! At that moment, Zoe gets a call from downstairs, stating that Valente's parents are here! Of course, Valente's parents has no idea he's gay, so he turns into his super tough alter-ego, Jerome. When Pearl comes out in her wedding dress, his parents thinks VALENTE is the one getting married! Valente brings Zoe and Pearl into Zoe's office, with Pearl angrily stating that he needs to tell his parents the truth! However, Valente suggests having a fake wedding at the rehearsal to convince his parents that he's straight for now, and then they can go on their way! Pearl hesitantly agrees.

The next day, Zoe decides to be a brand new Zoe--super cute, confident and baggage free. She refuses to take no for an answer from Stephen, and calls him to ask him to be her date to Pearl's wedding. As the conversation is going well between Zoe and Stephen, Pearl is dealing with a crisis over the phone! Turns out the Plaza double-bookedMeanwhile, Pearl is dealing with a crisis. The plaza double-booked her wedding and an event for President Obama, so Pearl's wedding is out! Of course, Pearl is SPAZZING!

In the end though, Zoe hosts the wedding (and the fake wedding) at her condo. Stephen comes, and so does Miguel and Alejandra. First, we see the fake wedding. While Pearl is reciting her fake vows, which are actually really sentimental, Valente says that this is something she should say to her real soulmate. Valente admits in front of everyone that he's gay, which his father already knew when he found Valente kissing the TV while Fresh Prince was on! Regardless of his sexuality, Valente's parents still love him!

At the end of the episode, Pearl sits in Zoe's bedroom and wonders if Earl is the one for her. Zoe tells her not to rush into something that she isn't really ready for. Pearl doesn't get married, and decides to just take things slow with Earl. While Stephen and Miguel throw small jabs at each other, Zoe goes to find Xavier, who is watching Gemini's fight on his phone. When Zoe scolds him for watching, Xavier gets mad, stating that Gemini's losing, and that they both should've been there for him. Instead, Zoe is worried about dating! He angrily says that he hates her, and wants to move in with his dad! Miguel comes in to check on her, and she explains everything to him, obviously upset. Miguel says Xavier's words are just talk. However, Zoe's upset that she's been painted as this evil mom, when she really just didn't want to X to see Gemini get hurt. Between the company, dealing with being a a single mom, and Gemini, she has all of these different emotions reeling inside. In a moment of comfort, Miguel ends up kissing Zoe. The episode ends with the two of them making out, while Gemini gets knocked out in his fight!

I'm pretty sure that BET will renew Zoe Ever After for a second season, so I'm excited to see what's to come next season!

Zoe Ever After is winding down, and I'm hoping that BET gives the show a second season! Picking up from last week, Zoe has a date with a guy named David, who's in sales. The date seems to be going well, until David pulls out a list of questions asking Zoe about any outstanding warrants, STDs etc! After she answers no, David asks if she has a crazy ex, to which Zoe states that Gemini's not super crazy. He just has a little bit of a temper! Of course, David quickly asks for the check!

Meanwhile, Gemini is being interviewed by a journalist named Ashley (Tatyana Ali) for an upcoming documentary. Turns out that they have worked together before, and they have a good connection. After Ashley gets some footage of him, Gemini asks her to also speak with Zoe and Xavier, since they're his family. Ashley is hesitant, knowing that Zoe isn't her biggest fan (implying that Zoe felt like something was going with them in the past), but she agrees to go along with it.

The next day at Zoe Moon Cosmetics, Pearl brings out this self-help book about men, reading that guys are available on every corner, which gives her hope. Zoe come in with coffee for everyone, even Miguel, which throws Pearl and Valente off since they know Zoe hasn't been Miguel's biggest fan. However, after the Atlantic City trip, Zoe states that she's actually inspired by Miguel's success story, and I think she might even have a bit of a crush now, though she says nothing to her crew. Miguel comes in at that moment, bringing in coffee for Zoe! Oh they're definitely going to have a romantic moment before the season's out! Pearl then asks Miguel where one should go to find a good man, still holding out hope on this wedding. Miguel states that she should go to church, and invites them to his. Looks like Pearl will be heading to the House of the Lord, though not for the right reason!

That night, as Zoe walks back into her condo, she sees Xavier being interviewed for the documentary. Of course, she's irritated, especially seeing Ashley in her house, and tells Gemini to meet her on the terrace right now to discuss this. She goes off, still believing that smething happened with them in the past. Plus, she didn't get the memo or sign off on Xavier being recorded for the documentary. Gemini doesn't get why Zoe's all upset, feeling like she should be there for him after all he's done for her. Zoe admits that this is her fault, because she's allowed him to dominate over her a bit, but now she's checking him! In retaliation, Gemini calls her Stella St. James, revealing that he knows about her trip to Atlantic City and her little alter ego. Angrily, Zoe tells him to get the hell out, and to take that piece (Ashley) with him!

Later, Pearl and Valente go to church to find some men! Zoe pops up too, planning to go off on Miguel, believing that he's the one who told Gemini about Atlantic City. When she sees Miguel, she goes in, stating that she was right about Miguel being hired to spy on her by Gemini to ultimately take down Zoe Moon Cosmetics! She sounds like a crazy woman, and, of course, Miguel has no idea what she's talking about. An elderly church member, Brother Hedgepath, comes over to flirt with Zoe, and Miguel leaves her behind to deal with him as payback!

Meanwhile, Ashley goes to say goodbye to Gemini as he sits in the ring thinking about his argument with Zoe. He apologizes to her for the incident earlier, but Ashley admits that he expected it. He's clearly upset by Zoe's actions, thinking that they would still be together even if just as a family. Ashley tells him that she will be here for him whenever he wants to talk, and they kiss! Looks like Zoe was right about their chemistry after all!

During the church service, Zoe switches seats with Pearl and Valente to get to Miguel. While Zoe hurls insults at him, the pastor introduces Miguel to the congregation, thanking him for all of the work he has put in for the church. Zoe thinks he does all of this just to get business for his company, but the man is actually a saint! After church, Pearl goes out with Brother Hedgepath, who apparently has a grandson who's 6'4 and a banker! Meanwhile Zoe confronts Miguel again, but Miguel didn't tell Gemini! Valente was the one who put the trip on Gemini's card, and had to explain who Stella St. James was to his accountant, who probably told Gemini. Miguel is sick of being caught in the middle of Zoe and Gemini's mess, and she apologizes. Miguel forgives her for today since they are in church and what not. Zoe asks if she can take him out for an apology dinner, but he already has plans with another woman at the church. It's clear that, as Zoe watches him walk away with the girl, that she kind of wanted the date! Again, they're definitely hooking up before the season is over!

Later, Xavier talks to Gemini on FaceTime, planning to watch the documentary with Zoe. However, in the documentary, Ashley also features another fighter Juarez who is going up against Gemini in a big fight. When Xavier asks if Gemini will be able to take him, Zoe, who doesn't really know what to say, does what she thinks a mother would do to change the subject: a pillow fight!

The hour-long season finale of Zoe Ever After is next Wednesday, February 16 at 10 p.m. ET only on BET!

Another good episode of Zoe Ever After! Picking up from last week, Zoe reveals to Pearl and Valente that Stephen hasn't called, texted, OR tweeted since Gemini burst in on their date! Valente informs Zoe that Stephen is "ghosting" her, or cutting off all communication until she gets the point that he doesn't want to deal with her anymore. It sucks, because I actually liked Stephen for Zoe! She also mentions that, after last week, she wants to stay as far away from Gemini as possible. Pearl and Valente figure out that the two of them had sex, and Pearl calls her out for not getting over Gemini! She tells Zoe to avoid him, but that's easier said and done since Zoe and Gemini have a kid. Pearl then suggests a weekend getaway to get all of this off of Zoe's brain, and Valente recommends Atlantic City!

In Atlantic City, Zoe decides she can be anyone she wants, and comes up with a Jamaican alter ego, Stella St. James! Pearl decides that she is going to be a British woman, Lolita Bombay, while Valente decides to just remain his fabulous self (though later, he pulls out an interesting alter ego of his own!). Though Zoe is trying to get away from anything surrounding Gemini's name, a waiter gives them free champagne simply because she's known as Gemini's wife's. The crew happily takes that, though!

Meanwhile, Gemini stays with Xavier at Zoe's house. Amir says it's not the same around here without Gemini, trying to get a better-sized tip! He never thought that they would break up, but his son is doing well. Xavier is doing well in school, and he even has a little date later. Really, it's just a school project, though.

Back in AC, at the blackjack table, a handsome British guy comes up to Pearl, who all her time spent binge-watching of Downton Abbey to pretend to know the British slang. Out of nowhere, Miguel pops up and blows up Zoe's spot! Zoe thinks that Gemini sent him here to spy on her. However, Miguel tells her that Jersey is his turf, and he's actually here for a bachelor party. Zoe walks away to get away from him, but Miguel follows. The two get some drinks, and play the slots!

At home, Xavier is freaking out about his "date," asking Gemini how do you know if a girl likes you? As Gemini explains that a girl wants a man to protect him, Jessica walks in with just a towel on! What is with this girl, and how does she always manage to get into Zoe's house?! Gemini covers X's eyes, but still looks himself, of course.

As he and Zoe talk at the casino, Miguel admits he came to the slots because he didn't want to pay money for a stripper. He'll lose money either way, but okay. In keeping up with Zoe, Miguel comes up with an alter ego of his own in Chicago Bulls player Pau Gasol. The two of them surprisingly talk and laugh together, and drink. Meanwhile, Pearl is doing well with her British beau. However, a guy from Valente's old high school spots Valente, calling him by his real name--Jerome Johnson! Valente surprisingly fakes like he's straight! It turns out the two of them played football together, which is crazy. Valente even pretends like he came to Atlantic City with Pearl as his lady, which causes the the British bloke to get up in Valente's face. However, Pearl tells the guy to find her at her room later, and acts as Valente's beard. but she tells him to see her after. Valente comes up with these crazy stories to fool Bob, and even kisses Pearl on the blackjack table!

Miguel and Zoe are still drinking, and having a good time. When Miguel asks why Zoe is so uptight, she says that maybe because ending her 20-year relationship, running a business, and being a single mom is harder than she thought. Miguel admits that, with his business, he had struggles too, even having to move back in with his mother at first. However, they're both doing all right now. The two toast to their work and lives, and Zoe even wins the jackpot!

Later at the condo, Jessica is still there with Gemini eyeing her! Xavier ends up asking Jessica if a guy liked her, how would he show her that he likes her? When Jessica says that the guy would probably buy her a car, Xavier looks to his dad, but, obviously, Gemini shuts down the idea. Jessica then tells him that the kind of guys she really likes are the ones that are comfortable with being themselves. A while later, Xavier's classmate, Dani Rose, comes up to work on the project, but it's not going too well. Jessica pops up again, and plays like she's jealous that Xavier is with this little girl, telling Dani that she better be good to him! After Dani realizes that she's a supermodel, Xavier looks cool to her and she asks to work with him on a book report!

Meanwhile, Pearl and Valente (or I guess we should say Jerome) are still talking with Bob. Bob says that, back in the day that Valente had his share of girls! They even called him "Take 'Em Home Jerome." Bob invites him to catch up along with some other plumbers Bob works with. Valente tries to end this awkward moment, but Pearl decides to still go along with it. They later have a discussion about how Valente hid who he really was, coming up with this alter ego Jerome in his hometown, but he's still gay! He was heavier back in the day, and actually did play football but it wasn't him. Moving to New York, and now working for Zoe is Valente's dream, and he's happy now. Good for him!

Back at work on Monday, Miguel plans to work on Zoe's A/C before her important meeting with Macy's, and has also fix the creaks in her drawers. Zoe decides to splits the share of her winnings in Atlantic City with him...a whopping $22.75! I CAN'T WAIT for them to get together...I know it's coming!

Zoe Ever After is turning out to be a pretty decent show! Picking up from last week, Zoe goes out with a guy named Stephen, who she used to have a thing in college. Things are actually looking pretty good between them. As they talk, a random guy approaches Zoe trying to talk to her. Stephen confronts him, though not violently. However, Zoe goes further, threatening to hurt the guy with her Louboutins! Later, Stephen and Zoe make out in the elevator on the way up to Zoe's place, missing their stop several times! Stephen tells her that if she hadn't dropped out of school to marry Gemini, they could've had something happen sooner between them. This is true! Stephen seems like a good guy for her. They flirt a little more, and end up making out half of the night!

The next morning, Zoe tells Valente and Pearl about her date with Stephen, admitting that they didn't have sex. However, after all these years, Stephen is still the same as he was in college. Everyone, of course, is getting in her business, even Miguel, who pops up from under her desk stating that all of this talk is inappropriate! Zoe admits to Pearl that's she never had sex with anyone but Gemini, and needs time to think things through. However, shortly after, Zoe decides to call Stephen, planning to finish what they started!

Later, as Gemini trains at the gym, Xavier asks for help for a school project. Of course, Gemini is no help at all! However, X also asks about Zoe having guy friends, and mentions Stephen from college, which freaks Gemini out! Obviously knowing their past, Gemini wants to know everything! Xavier doesn't know much, except that he heard Pearl say that Zoe needs some "Brazilians," Gemini plans for them to leave, presumably so he can break them up.

That night, Pearl hosts a trunk show at the company, planning to find a discounted wedding dress, However, an actual bride takes Pearl's dress! The girl is clearly too big for it, but she and Pearl fight over the dress, and end up ripping it! Of course, you know that Pearl breaks down into dramatic tears!

Meanwhile, Stephen comes in to see Zoe. All kinds of weird things happen that Gemini HAD to have planned! Amir makes him show three forms of ID and plans to get a thumbprint before he can come up! However, when Stephen calls Zoe, Zoe tells him to let Stephen up this minute or she's going to beat him up. While Stephen and Zoe make out, Jessica, a supermodel that lives in the building, randomly comes in from the balcony, interrupting them! Then Miguel shows up, stating that Gemini said she has rats he needed to get rid of! Gemini is clearly trying so hard to break them up! After Zoe kicks Miguel out, Stephen wants to head to the bedroom, but Zoe kind of freaks out. He tells her that, if she's not into this, they don't have to do anything more. She admits that he would be the only other person that she's been with besides Gemini. While they talk, Gemini and Xavier walk in and completely mess up the vibe! Though he leaves, Stephen makes it clear that he is not intimidated by Gemini, planning to pick up with Zoe right where they left off.

After Stephen leaves, Zoe goes off on Gemini, who is clearly jealous! However, he knows she's not over him yet, and he's not over her. He states that he loves her, and goes in for a kiss! They end up having sex, but, afterwards, Zoe looks like she regrets it. She can't believe she fell for the okey doke again! Zoe tells Gemini to go home, not wanting X to see him and get confused. At the end of the day, they're divorced, and they can't keep blurring the lines. Even though Gemini puts it down in the bedroom, they got divorced for a reason. Zoe tells him straight up that this isn't his house anymore, and she's not his wife. He gets upset, realizing that he's stupid for wasting his time waiting for her, planning to walk out of her life for real this time. Zoe needs to figure everything out, and it's going to take some time to do this.

The next day at work, Pearl tries to put her dress back together, and plans to still be the happiest bride ever. This girl is OBSESSED! When Valente asks Zoe about her romp with Stephen, she notes that she definitely got screwed...though not mentioning that it was by Gemini!

Zoe Ever After is turning out to be a pretty good sitcom for BET! Picking up from last week, Zoe has a date with this dumb but fine guy Darius. However, after seeing him picking his nose on the video intercom, she quickly cancels! Who could blame her?!

At work the next day, Zoe tries to balance a million and one things! addition to all of the work and meetings she has for Zoe Moon Cosmetics, she has to have a meeting with some of the moms at Xavier's school about a fundraiser auction. The goal is to raise money for X's class to go on a special school trip to study astronomy. All the while, she is trying so hard to separate herself from Gemini in terms of business as well (turns out some of her products have boxing references).

We see Pearl as well, still dead set on this wedding though she hasn't found her groom yet. She even brought in centerpiece choices,  stating that she had a great date with another guy she met online. Valente mentions that he had a great date, too. The two begin describing their guys....and quickly find out they both went out with the same dude!

At Zoe's condo, her fire detectors are beeping, and she's going crazy with no idea what to do! Though she's trying so hard not to ask for Gemini's help, she ends up calling him anyway. The moms from X's school eventually come, and they are so snooty, making little digs at Zoe! At that moment, Miguel comes over to help with the detectors as a favor to Gemini for the work he's doing. As he works, the mothers stare at him flirtatiously, which Miguel uses as an opportunity to promote his business. When Zoe finally gets things back in order, she tells the moms that she doesn't plan to give anything from Gemini for the auction, instead offering her own products and make up artists from her company. The mothers think it's cute, but want Gemini's boxing package, dismissing Zoe's idea as average. As Zoe walks out to help Miguel, she overhears one of the moms, Poppy, saying that Zoe has fallen apart since breaking up with Gemini, which irritates her.

Meanwhile, Pearl and Valente have a sit down with their date Joseph to figure out who the boy should be with. Pearl and Valente each talk about why they each are the perfect match for Joseph. He hears them out, and decides to go with Valente, since he is not trying to get married, Joseph goes on to tell Pearl that this whole desperate act of hers is NOT cute. It isn't, but who is he to say that?! Valente stands up for Pearl, and the two of them dismiss Joseph together.

Back at Zoe's, Miguel figures out Zoe's smoke detector. He also tells her that her so-called "friends" from Xavier's school, are not supportive of her at all. Zoe believes she can handle them like the boss she is, but Miguel asks, if so, why can't even stand up to her own friends?! When Zoe goes back to the meeting, the moms have decided that she'll be in charge of coat check. Whoever donates the most gets to choose their jobs first, so Zoe is clearly out with her idea. Zoe goes in on Poppy, stating that she's starting her business to make a name for herself unlike them! After some great insults, she kicks all of them out! Miguel, impressed, shows Zoe how to clean the detectors to get them to stop beeping. Afterwards, Gemini comes over, telling Zoe that he decided to donate stuff anyway. Annoyed, Zoe lets Gemini eat the tapenade that one of the moms actually spit out!

How are you guys liking Zoe Ever After? I think it's a pretty cool show to watch with a great plot! Picking up from last week, Zoe goes to an art exhibit and trashes a piece while, unknowingly, talking to the artist! The guy's name is Jordan, and, after Zoe apologizes, the two seem to hit it off.

The next day, Gemini arrives to take Xavier camping, and Zoe warns him to keep Xavier safe and free of ticks! At the office, Zoe tells Valente and Pearl that she plans to LIVE this weekend, being single and fabulous! Meanwhile, Pearl expresses her serious struggle in the dating pool. She's hellbent on her wedding date in five months, but that's going to be difficult since she has no groom yet! Pearl did manage to snag a new date, and wants Zoe and Valente to come with her as parachutes in case she needs to be rescued. However, Zoe has a date that night herself with Jordan!

Later, Gemini and Xavier set up camp. Unfortunately, the two get a bad camping spot right by the porta potties in the woods, since Gemini didn't make reservations. However, Gemini has fancy, luxurious camping equipment, so they should be okay...hopefully.

Still at the office that night, Zoe hears a noise and freaks out. Turns out it's only the contractor Miguel, who is working on the building still. Zoe insists the building has character, but he feels like she made a mistake in putting her business here. Miguel wonders if she's one of those new, lonely divorcees who spend their time sipping wine with a straw. When Zoe boasts about her date that night, Jordan cancels at that moment BY TEXT because he's "two weeks behind on Game of Thrones!" REALLY? Rude.

Meanwhile, even in the woods, Gemini is still taking pics with fans. Even though he dragged his son out there, Gemini has no idea how to make a fire, go fishing, or anything. The man doesn't even know how to open the airtight containers that other snacks are in. "Going to bed hungry, that builds character," he tells Xavier wrapping him in a  sleeping bag. However, the sleeping bag is so tight, it keeps Xavier from making it to the bathroom in time!

Later that night, Valente and Zoe sit by Pearl with her date Robert, who are really getting alone well. Even though Pearl signals for Valente and Zoe to leave, Zoe decides to stay behind and order drinks and food, getting all up in Pearl's date. Pearl's date Robert gets up for a minute, and Pearl tells Zoe blatantly to leave. However, Zoe is afraid that Pearl will act up like she has in the past with drinks in her system. She tells Pearl to stop being so thirsty just to have this wedding. When Robert tries to leave with Pearl, Zoe plans on going too. COMPLETE BLOCKER! Even when Robert tries to get a good night kiss from Pearl, Zoe blocks that, and they have to fist bump instead! When Robert leaves, Pearl goes off on Zoe and rightfully so!  Pearl tells Zoe off, because Zoe wasn't there for her when she was having problems, because Zoe was all caught up in Gemini. The reality is, now that Zoe's alone, she wants everybody else to be alone too. Pshh, if I was Pearl, I would have left and found Robert!

Still at camp, Gemini and Xavier have a virtual fire on the iPad, but then it starts raining. Gemini admits that now that he's not living there, he doesn't want to miss time out with his son, However, Xavier tells him they don't have to go camping to do that! The two go to a hotel, have s'mores, and talk about girls and other father-son stuff.

Zoe talks to the doorman Amir, who leaves to help a resident. Another resident Jessica, who is a model, walks by, and ignores Zoe, though Zoe tries to strike up conversation. Jessica calls her out for being lonely, and that this will be the first of many lonely nights for Zoe. As Jessica walks off in her fur coat and lingerie (clearly NOT lonely herself), Zoe goes to her empty loft, with a glass of wine, and is sad. She begins to watch Golden Girls, but gets emotional and turns it off. She eventually calls Pearl, and leaves a voicemail apologizing for being a terrible friend and admitting that Pearl was right about her being alone. At that point, Pearl comes over with wine and straws, clearly forgiving her best friend!

After the end of hit show The Game, Brandy is back on BET with her new show, Zoe Ever After! Brandy stars as Zoe Moon, the owner of Zoe Moon Cosmetics, who is getting back into the swing of things trying to move on from her soon-to-be ex-husband, celebrity boxer Gemini Moon (Dorian Missick)! Gemini cheated on her, so she chose to move on to focus on herself and her own happiness. Balancing co-parenting, dating, and a business will be challenging for Zoe, but I'm definitely interested  to see how this show unfolds. I'll be watching and recapping all season!

Check out my recap of the premiere below!

At the beginning of the episode, Zoe comes from home from a special date with a guy named Sean, who works on Wall Street and is ready to help her move on from her husband. As they ride of the elevator up to Zoe's condo, the two kiss on the elevator. However, as the doors open, Xavier and Gemini are in the living room The doorman, Amir, who is a fan of Gemini, "neglected" to tell her that Gemini was there. When Sean himself starts obsessing over Gemini, Zoe promptly kicks him out. Afterwards, Gemini states he plans to buy Xavier new stuff for their weekend together, though Zoe objects. With co-parenting, they have to be on the same page, and Zoe doesn't feel like Xavier needs a bunch of material things. In spite of their tension, though, it's clear that they still have a soft spot for each other! Zoe and Gemini have been separated for a year, but neither of them will sign the divorce papers!

The next day, at Zoe's cosmetic company, Zoe's publicist Pearl (Haneefah Wood) tries Tinder to find her a guy, with the assistance of Zoe's assistant Valente (Tory Devon Smith). When Zoe arrives, Pearl discusses the company's recent pop-up show, and reveals that Lupita Nyong'o's makeup artist was there and liked the products. It's possible that Lupita could be the new face of Zoe Moon Cosmetics!

At that moment, Xavier comes in with Gemini, who reminds Zoe of a parent-teacher's conference they have that morning. Valente completely forgot  that her assistant forgot to tell her about it. As they walk to the elevator, Gemini notices that it's extremely hot in the building and tells Xavier to remind him to have it fixed. Xavier records a note on his new iPhone that Gemini bought him which Zoe confronts him about in the elevator after telling Xavier to sit down. At the end of the day, he's only 8! What does he need with a brand new iPhone?! After they get off the elevator, they realize that Xavier has mysteriously disappeared! They do eventually find him, but arrive to the conference late. Zoe awkwardly explains to the teacher what happened and apologizes. However, Xavier's teacher states that boys often act out when their fathers aren't in the home, knowing that Zoe and Gemini are going through a break up. Though Gemini may not be living with Xavier anymore, it's clear that he makes time for his son. Of course, Gemini gets offended and walks out.

Meanwhile, back at the office, Pearl stresses about texting a guy she found on Tinder. Valente tells Pearl to text from the heart. Instead of playing it cool though, she asks the guy randomly what he's doing on November 14, which is the day she plans to get married at the Plaza! What?! Can you get to know this guy first before you plan out an entire lifetime in your head??? HA!

When Zoe gets back, she realizes that there is a bunch of construction going on to fix the A/C. It pisses her off because she knows it was nobody but Gemini who ordered this. Miguel Maldonado (Ignacio Serricho) is the head of the contracting firm, and he states that she has more issues than she thought, including plumbing issues and mold. However, Zoe firmly states that she is the owner and didn't authorize all this work. Miguel tells her that the place is a mess, and he's just doing his job. If she has an issue with that, she needs to take it up with Gemini. There seems to be a hint of hidden interest between the two, so I wouldn't be surprised if they hook up later in the season. Zoe plans to go OFF on Gemini tonight for all of this, though.

When she gets home, Zoe sees India Arie standing in her living room, and the singer performs her hit "Ready For Love." Gemini planned this grand gesture to try to butter her up, knowing that she'd be upset. She sees right through it, but his words do end up softening her heart a bit. He takes her to the balcony, where he has 20 doves released for every year they were together. Gemini says that he could have never achieved any of their dreams without her. They kiss, before they are interrupted by Gemini's phone. Zoe admits to him that she felt slighted and invisible in their relationship, and now, with her cosmetics company, she feels like she has purpose.

While she's saying all of this though, Gemini is texting another girl, proving that he hasn't changed one bit. The way he treated her was not okay, and she refuses to go back to that. She pulls out the divorce papers and signs them, which angers him. However, he signs them too, believing that she won't make it without him. "I guess we'll see," Zoe says. Xavier sees all of this, and storms off, mad at his mom. He's upset about what's going on, and it's understandable. Zoe says she's taking a breather from his dad to feel better about herself. However, that doesn't mean that Xavier's not important to Zoe and Gemini. Xavier, though, is worried more about who will take care of her, and Zoe says that they will take care of each other!

Though there was a major overuse of the laugh track, this is a cute, decent show. I love some Brandy, so it's great to see her on TV again. I'm really interested in the storyline itself, so I'm excited to see what BET brings to the table.

Last night was the season 3 finale of Being Mary Jane, and I can't believe it's already over! Picking up from last week, Mary Jane wakes up in bed with Gorgeous Guy (apparently that's the white boy's official nickname, though we STILL do not know his actual name). They talk about potential dates when the doorball rings, and it's David's mother Simone at the door! Though MJ ignores her knocks at first, Simone is persistent and MJ eventually lets her in. Simone, of course, is here to try to convince Mary Jane to go back to David, which MJ is NOT here for! She asks if Simone forgive her son if she was in Mary Jane's shoes? Probably not. Mary Jane firmly tells Simone that it's over between MJ and David, and that Simone needs to let go. I was proud of MJ in that moment, because she could have very easily slipped back into her old ways, pining after this man. Glad to see she's moved on!

Later, Mary Jane goes to Cece's bookstore to talk about injustices in the black community. Afterwards, she reveals to Cece that she has been offered a publishing deal for a memoir that targets the black demographic. She wants to mention how the two of them met through Cece's extortion, and the hardships that led them both to that moment. Cece, really needing money for her bookstore, agrees to it happily.

That night, at the club, Mary Jane and Gorgeous Guy participate in a fun karaoke session. However, Mary Jane notices a black couple is looking at them funny, seemingly because they are an interracial couple. The next day, social media is buzzing about Mary Jane's date! On hit talk show The Real the next day, the ladies talk about Mary Jane dating a white guy. Of course, many black women feel like MJ is a hypocrite for being in an interracial relationship, especially after her "Ugly Black Woman" segment. The ladies have a short discussion about interracial dating, and people passing judgement, especially with one of the hosts, Tamera Mowry-Housley, being not only in an interracial relationship, but also the product of an interracial relationship. It was nice to see how BET added in their show!

Back at SNC, Greg, of course, wants to capitalize on all of the attention Mary Jane is getting, and suggests she relaunches talkBACK by discussing interracial relationships for talkBACK! Mary Jane doesn't want to start the show off by speaking on her personal life, but she owes Greg a few favors for even getting the show back in the first place. MJ reluctantly agrees to go through with it. When she tells her young team about the topic, Nina states adamantly that she didn't sign up to do the fluff pieces. However, Mary Jane tells her that sometimes you have to go along to get along. "This is life. Deal with it," she says. This is true. However, I do hope that Mary Jane doesn't revert to her Primetime stories with talkBACK. Give Greg and the higher ups what they want every now and then, but really use this show to focus on stories that make a difference!

At the Pattersons, Niecy plays with Trayvion, and quietly asks PJ if he's talked to Patrick, and he says no. As Paul walks into the room, PJ states that he and Niecy are going to go car shopping to get Niecy a new ride.  Paul says that he's proud of PJ, feeling like Niecy deserves to have a man stand up for her, since Paul thinks Patrick doesn't. I know Paul is upset at Patrick for using these pills, but that was a low blow.

Meanwhile, back at SNC, Kara and Marison have a short, tense encounter in the lunch room, Kara tries to spark a conversation, but Marisol quickly storms out because of their last confrontation where Kara basically stated Marisol is sleeping her way to the top. Greg later asks Kara to meet in private, where he confronts her about her accusing Marisol of having an affair with him! Marisol plans to file a complaint to HR against Kara, and Kara could get fired! He tells her to go down to HR, clear his name, and fix this ASAP! Mary Jane suggests talking to Marisol, but Kara is so caught up with how she dealt with these kinds of situations herself instead of running to a boss or HR. When Mary Jane asks what Marisol has on her exactly, Kara admits what she's said about Marisol and Greg. She feels like maybe she should've been a tease and gotten ahead a lot faster. She's going to hate it, but Kara has to try to talk to Marisol and fix this, for the sake of her job!

On talkBack, Mary Jane does talk about interracial dating, asking have attitudes truly changed? That night, while having dinner with Gorgeous Guy, she states calmly that she can't date him anymore. She admits that she does care about the judgement that others pass on her for dating a white man. She already have struggles that she didn't ask for as a woman of color, so she doesn't want to bring on another struggle by being with him. Mary Jane wants black love, which is all well and good. To each his own. However, I find it interesting that she did this whole segment on the matter, seeming to try to convince others against prejudice, and then breaks up with him because she herself can't deal with it. Then again, Mary Jane is just playing the field right now, so this probably wasn't going to last too long anyway.

The next day, Kara tries to play nice with Marisol, complimenting her on her shoes. She casually brings up their issue and apologizes cooly, wanting Marisol to drop the complaint. Marisol sees right through it, and tells Kara to offer her the anchor spot on the  new show Kara's producing. Kara laughs, seeing how Marisol is trying to play this situation to her advantage, and walks away.

That night, Kara and Mary Jane go to get some barbecue, and MJ sees David with his fiancee and daughter. They make eye contact, but Mary Jane calmly turns around and goes on about her business. Kara asks if she's okay, and Mary Jane truly is. She's been thinking a lot about Lisa, and admits she still has a lot of guilt. MJ's also been thinking about her car accident, considering it a blessing. Getting blackmailed by Cece oddly reminded her of why she got into journalism in the first place. She's in a much better place than she was last season. She's dating for fun, she has TWO shows, and just seems to be happier. Mary Jane tells Kara that maybe Marisol is Kara's own "car accident," or blessing in disguise, Maybe this is the universe's way of pushing Kara to do what she is meant to do.

Later, we see Marisol as the anchor on Kara's new show, showing us that Kara went along with Marisol's deal to try to get this complaint resolved. However, Kara later gets a visit from a woman in HR, stating that Marisol has filed a harassment complaint against Kara anyway, and HR will be investigating! In the meantime, Kara is not to have any contact with Marisol, which will be hard since Kara is the producer on the show Marisol's heading up! So it looks like Kara will probably lose that position. Marisol played her VERY WELL. I feel bad and mad too, because Kara's job shouldn't be in jeopardy. However, you have to be careful about what you say in the workplace, especially in today's age.

Meanwhile, Mary Jane and Cece go to the publisher to sell their book idea at the publishing company. Cece loves the attention, and spills everything about how she blackmailed Mary Jane, but that it ultimately allowed them to bond. The associates at the publishing company soak it all up, seeing how this could be sold as a bizarre memoir of friendship. However, it turns out that this was really Mary Jane setting her up to be arrested! Two cops were posing as employees, recorded EVERYTHING Cece said, and quickly arrest her! Of course, Cece is pissed off, but MJ is sick of people taking it too far with her, and using her. BOOM! I really did like Cece's role on the show, but I get why Mary Jane did it. If I was being extorted for thousands of dollars, I'd try to plan something like that too.

At the end of the episode, Mary Jane stands in front of the mirror and reflects on her life over the past three seasons, from dealing with her family and relationships, to work and her car accident, and even her fight with Lisa and Lisa's eventual suicide. It's been a rough road for MJ, but again, she's in a much better place now, and I'm happy to see it.

The episode ends with Niecy getting pulled over in her new car, with her babies in tow. Pulled over for "loud music" and not having license plates, Niecy gets confrontational with the cop and is eventually dragged out of the car, She keeps arguing with the cop, and he tases and arrests WHILE HER SON IS WATCHING! Of course, in this social media age, someone records the entire thing. Nina watches it back at SNC, and shows Mary Jane, not knowing that's MJ's niece. Mary Jane freezes as she watches Niecy being tackled to the ground, in the same manner that we've seen several cops aggressively take down people in the past few years.

Now, I have to be honest about this. I do not condone the cop's actions completely. With the babies in the car, he probably should have taken another approach to this. HOWEVER, people are natural reactors. We react to how people approach us, and Niecy approached him rudely which set him off. I believe in knowing and asserting your rights, but there's a way to go about it. In fact, BET wrote a piece on what people should do if they get pulled over. To me, I feel like the main piece is remaining calm even when you know you didn't do anything. Niecy was aggressive from the jump, which caused him to be aggressive as well. I'm sure that this will be a debate online for a few days. I'm not sure what the end result will be for Niecy, but that was definitely an interesting way to end the season!

What did you think of the Being Mary Jane season 3 finale?

Images via BET

Can't believe this is the second to last episode of Being Mary Jane for the season! Picking up from last week, right after Patrick storms out, Paul tells Mary Jane that all of this is necessary, even if they did ambush him. I get why everyone is upset, though. Even though this is a lighter drug, it's still a drug, and for Patrick to relapse into his old ways would be terrible. MJ brings D'Asia to her house that night, and, of course, D'Asia asks about her dad. MJ tells her that Patrick had to work, and D'Asia is happy just spending time over at her aunt's house. D'Asia asks MJ upfront, however, if her dad is back on drugs, but MJ plays it off, saying again that he is just working late.

The next morning, Patrick sits outside of D'Asia's school, waiting to see her. D'Asia's teacher spots him, and they talk a bit, with Patrick explaining that he brought lunch for D'Asia. He gets a little emotional of everything going on, and gives the teacher D'Asia's lunch. When he pulls off, the teacher finds a sweet note to D'Asia from him. However, she senses that something is off when she sees D'Asia come in with Mary Jane and another lunch box in hand.

Later, at work, Mary Jane vents to Kara about Patrick and her parents, and Kara feels like MJ's parents are using her as their guard dog. She tells Mary Jane that this isn't her fight, believing MJ needs to be a little selfish right now and focus on the good in her life. Later, MJ calls Paul explaining that she can't pick D'Asia up (with her work, she wouldn't always be able to anyway). She tries to get Paul to back down on this, Paul refuses to send D'Asia back to Patrick. In fact, when PJ comes back home to try to help with D'Asia, Paul tells his son upfront that there is only one side in all of this--his.

Later, Marisol tries to get a spot on the talkBack team, even as a producer. However, MJ spent all of her budget already, and wouldn't be able to take Marisol on. In fact, Mary Jane's team is small and young. She invites Nina, one of the students who called her out at Clark Atlanta, as a news consultant. Khalil, also a student, is working as an intern at SNC and hops on board, though he is upset to have to be getting Nina coffee as an intern. After being kicked out of the main conference room, and moving to the lunch room to try to meet, the team ends up going to Mary Jane's house to brainstorm. These young aspiring journalists have a heavy debate on government assistance to minorities, and plan to pitch Greg a show on welfare. Cece comes by, asking for Mary Jane to make an appearance to the bookstore to encourage sales and black people to read. Mary Jane hesitantly agrees. Cece looks at the team's work and asks about the format of the show, which she calls predictable. Most of the topics they've chosen have divides from gender and race to even generational. Cece then comes up with great ideas, but all MJ can remember is Cece blackmailing her in a voiceover.

After school, Patrick tries to get D'Asia from Paul but fails. Her teacher comes over concerned, stating that school is not the place to go through all this. Patrick gets emotional and calls out of work. The teacher kindly volunteers to give him a ride home and he admits that he is a drug addict. Recently, he started taking something to keep up with work, and his family called him out on it, and took D'Asia. She tells Patrick that he needs to reflect and have a conversation with himself about what he needs to do to be better going forward. However, Patrick decides to go to the Pattersons and takes D'Asia anyway.

That night Paul and Helen talk privately in their room. Helen wants Patrick to move back in to keep an eye on him, an idea that Paul doesn't like. He gets upset, because he feels like they have blown most of their money on these adults, and haven't spent time making enough memories, just the two of them. However, Helen comforts Paul, telling him that he's always done the right thing. All the while, Niecy and PJ eavesdrop on their conversation. Honestly, Paul and Helen are enablers. They always came in to save their kids instead of giving them tough love.

On Primetime, Mary Jane announces the official relaunch of talkBack. After work, she calls Kara, planning to talk to her parents. Kara states that MJ needs to see who else is capable of showing up in these family situations, because most times, it's Mary Jane. Back at her house, Kara runs into John, who's attempting to write an essay for possible publication. After he tells her that the main breaker in the house tripped again, Kara goes into a rant about her work ethic that she got from her mom. She wants the best, and doesn't understand, as a white man in America, how his ambition could be so low, and how he lets her take care of everything? He could be whatever he wanted, and not struggling to make it as a writer. However, John states that, if he wasn't there, Kara wouldn't be able to work endlessly and come and go as she pleases. Kara wishes him luck with that essay, since they need it to be able to help keep the lights on for their kids.

Later, PJ talks to Niecy about her needing to handle herself and her kids on her own. She has a job, sure, and yes, I applaud her for doing something, but it's only part-time. It's BEEN time for her to grow up. Niecy feels like she's trying, but also thinks that, no matter what she does, her life is never going anywhere. PJ tells her honestly that people will be there to help her, but they're not going to rescue her.  He mentions that she needs to ask for more help from her babies' fathers. PJ will help cover daycare and preschool for the kids, and help her establish her credit. Niecy can also get her cosmetology license so she can do hair! This girl really doesn't realize how successful she could be by getting into the hair game, especially with her mother doing hair as well. Niecy has to WANT to be successful, and go after something wholeheartedly instead of depending on other people.

At the end of the episode, MJ texts Patrick stating that she loves him and will always be there for him. He's still angry, though, and ignores the text. The next morning, Cece is outside of MJ's door, and congratulates her on the return of talkBack. Cece again asks for contributions, since these are her ideas. It was even Cece's idea for Mary Jane to go after both shows. "A woman's gotta eat, after all," Cece explains. Of course this woman still wants to blackmail and get money of MJ! Her bookstore is struggling because, let's be honest, not too many people actually read too much these days at all, let alone physical copies of books (shout out to my fellow bookworms who still believe in actual books. Screw a tablet). Cece is an opportunist, and will continue to try to play Mary Jane, which is unfortunate, because I actually think they could be decent friends if she wasn't.

Another great episode of Being Mary Jane! Picking up from last week, Mary Jane and her family have a cookout at her house. Patrick excitedly talks to Paul about his work, clearly hopped up on those pills he's been taking. At the table, Niecy mentions possibly getting a car and MJ tells her that she needs to think about saving her money instead. Paul agrees, stating that he will buy her a car. Irritated, Mary Jane tells them that they all need to do better with their finances as a family. She thinks they need to brainstorm ideas about financial security and communal accountability, and literally the entire family walks away from the table. She wasn't lying though! Don't get me wrong. Mary Jane can be judgmental and preachy, but, in my opinion, she has a right to be when it comes to her family. A lot of times, they all end up falling back on her because of the money she makes and it's not a bad idea for them all to really get their finances together, especially Niecy and Patrick.

The next day, Mary Jane goes to speak at a class of journalism students at Clark Atlanta University, who have mixed opinions on if TV reporters are real reporters or just going along to get along with mainstream stories. Mary Jane talks about how all people really look at now are headlines and sound bites, believing "I didn't sell out. I bought in." It's a clear formula. Ratings = Advertising = Money. It's just the game. She tells the students that drama sells, which is why quite a few of her stories are fluff, especially for her slot being literally prime time for viewers. Viewers complain about wanting real, in depth stories that matter, but then the majority of them either skim over them or don't watch at all. It was very interesting to watch.  However, a student calls Mary Jane out for losing her real voice on PrimeTime, calling her indeed a sellout, and it clearly affects her.

Later, Cece hosts an author at her bookstore, where they and the attendees discuss black children living in America today. Again, what I love about this show, is that it brings up many different topics that can start great discussions in your own house, with co-workers, on social media, etc. Mary Jane swings through to give Cece her final payment, and asks Cece if she's a sellout like the students believed. Cece answers honestly, and says yes. MJ admits that her episodes surrounding people of color brought in her lowest ratings, bringing up the issue again of mainstream stories doing well. However, Cece mentions that if MJ's position now is so good, she wouldn't be so defensive. She thinks that MJ misses the freedom she had with Talk Back, and advises that MJ should get back into it, even if it is less money and billboards. Mary Jane congratulates Cece on her bookstore, and wishes her luck. That night, though, Mary Jane watches her past episode of Prime Time, seeming to be contemplating what Cece and the students says.

The next morning, MJ meditates and takes before spending with the white boy she met at the club (we still don't know his name, and I doubt she does still, either). Before they have sex, she brings out a wide variety of home HIV/STD tests. Though he's a little thrown off, he agrees to go along with it. She fakes taking her tests, and then administers his. He tests negative, and they get it in! As they sleep, she takes a picture of him and send to Kara. Kara comes over the next day, and MJ admits she had never been with a white boy before that.

A little later, Cece comes by advising Mary Jane not to "tear down to build," meaning that she shouldn't quit PrimeTime, a major opportunity, to go back to Talk Back. Cece tells her to go for both. MJ tells Cece not to come back to her house, warning her that she'll call the cops if Cece does. However, she takes the woman's advice, going to talk to Greg about returning to Talk Back. She pitches the idea that the show can be revamped and she'll do a better job than the journalist running it now. She even tells Greg that they can "exploit" the black audience, getting ratings on issues that matter to them, which gets Greg happy. However, Mary Jane really wants to have the show again to use her voice and discuss issues that matter.

Later that night, Kara notices that MJ is still in the office, working on a new format for Talk Back. Mary Jane proposes having an hour long show to discuss issues surrounding not just blacks, but also other minorities, including Latinos and women. Kara thinks it's great that MJ wants to do this, but admits that she can't do this show on top of everything that she has going on, and still be a good mom to her kids. She suggests that Mary Jane produces the show herself and find new people who come up with fresh ideas, saying that it's time that she trusts herself without Kara. Mary Jane thinks maybe Marisol could be brought in, which Kara doesn't like, but I think that could be a great idea as well.

Meanwhile, Patrick, Tracy and D'Asia have dinner together. When D'Asia goes to bed, Tracy announces that she's getting out of the halfway house, and wants to talk about getting them back together. Patrick rejects the idea, just wanting to co-parent. He wants her to do well, but doesn't want to be with her. Tracy is hurt, because she was with him through so much. He loves her, but however, he never promised her anything after she got herself together. Patrick just wants them to do right by D'Asia. Of course, Tracy storms off, enraged.

The next day at the office, Mary Jane has made the decision to produce Talk Back herself, and is steadily working on it. She gets a visit from her "sister-in-law," Tracy, who thinks that Patrick's on drugs again, after seeing him all energized at dinner. MJ doesn't believe her, but Tracy, as an addict, seeing the signs well, and knows that Mary Jane is probably the only person he'll come to. Mary Jane asks for proof, which Tracy doesn't have, of course. Mary Jane tells Tracy the next time she comes to SNC like that, MJ will have her arrested.

However, Tracy's words must have struck a nerve, because later on Mary Jane talks with Patrick, telling him what happened with Tracy and asking him nonchalantly if he's taking drugs Patrick admits he's taking a little something to help him focus, and Helen and Paul walk in on him as he says it. Angry, Paul states that Patrick promised he wouldn't take any drugs at all, and, until he gets himself together, they're taking D'Asia. Though Patrick denies being into anything serious, Paul also says he needs to go back to rehab, because they can't do anything more to help him, which Helen agrees with. Patrick storms out, pissed off at his parents, and especially at Mary Jane for bringing them. I get their anger and concern, though. Patrick's family has seen him at his lowest, and he can easily fall back into addiction.

Be sure to check out all new episodes of Being Mary Jane at 10 p.m. ET on Tuesdays only on BET.

Being Mary Jane was great last night! Picking up from last week, Mary Jane gets more bag options from the stylists, and gets a Birkin bag for herself for her 39th birthday. Meanwhile, Niecy tries to sell expensive flat irons at the mall, where a customer encourages her to do hair. Niecy could really be making some great money. I don't know why she doesn't, really. She talks with other employees in the mall, who help each other out with employee discounts to their different stores.

In addition to the Birkin bag, MJ also gets a new car. While driving home, she sees Mark's house for sale. She ss shocked and upset that he is really leaving for Nigeria, and also that he seemingly forgot her birthday. At that moment, Patrick calls and says that Helen had another fall and had to stay overnight in the hospital. She quickly comes over, of course. PJ comes in too, from LA, and is apparently doing well for himself at his new job, albeit illegal. MJ is suspicious that her brothers and family are planning something for her birthday, but I doubt it. Patrick asks her to come back to help Helen that night, which she takes to mean to come back for the surprise. However, with everything going on, I really think they forgot!

At work, Patrick gets invited for a "donut break," by his boss and a few employees, which turns out to be pills to focus. It works for Patrick, though. His sales have been up, and he's been able to get his work done. However, I see this becoming an addiction slowly but surely.

We then see clips from the events going on over in Nigeria. Back at SNC, Mark gets a great severance package now that he's leaving. Kara tells him to take care of himself out there, and lets him know that she'll be pissed if anything happens to him. Afterwards, Mary Jane reads birthday wishes from her viewers online, Kara brings her a homemade cake for her and the crew. During the celebration, a team member lets MJ know that it has been discovered that Barbara Ling-Cho, the employer that PJ works for, has been openly accused of bid rigging. There will be an investigative report, and MJ is encouraged to take a look at the email sent about it.

Later, Kara and MJ talk in MJ's new Tesla, with Kara's kids in the back. Kara is trying to work things out with John and the kids, and it seems to be working all right. She admits that she's mad that Mark is leaving, because now anchors will be rotated in, messing up the flow of the show. MJ tells that she has plans for a surprise party at her family's house, which Kara wasn't invited to. Kara thinks it's weird that she wouldn't be invited if there was a surprise party going on, but Mary Jane thinks it could just be a family thing.

MJ goes over to the Pattersons', walking around the dark house, thinking she'll be surprised.
However, absolutely nothing is going on. PJ reveals that they forgot, which would irritate me with everything that girl has done for them. Instead of getting too mad, Mary Jane brings up the bid rigging. PJ arrogantly admits he is involved, and Mary Jane states that there is already an investigation on his firm. Regardless of what he does, Mary Jane believes that he will end up being the fall guy on this, warning him to get out while he can. He wants to make this work to set the Pattersons back up for greatness. However, his methods make him a criminal, and it will come with burden and consequences. Mary Jane tells him he can make a lot of money from this, but it doesn't buy peace of mind.

Later, MJ gives Helen a bath, and helps her to bed, giving her medicine and a leg massage. At that moment, Helen reveals she never danced in public, not even at her wedding, out of fear of looking silly. Now these legs won't let her change her mind. Helen encourages Mary Jane that, whenever she gets a chance to dance, to dance, and wishes her a happy birthday. At least someone remembered!

At his job, Patrick slides his co-worker money for more pills to stay up and knock out orders. Meanwhile, Niecy and Paul come home, and we see Niecy did a little shopping with her first check, buying a lot of designer stuff with her friends' employee discounts. She even got MJ a candle for her birthday. Mary Jane calls Niecy for spending up half her check, when she has responsibilities with her kids. Of course, it upsets Niecy, who storms away and takes back the candle. Paul tells Mary Jane that Niecy needs to feel the independence of money, and is somewhat progressing. I mean, for the past two years, I've been wanting the girl to get a job, so yes, that's progress. When I got my first pay check, I spent it up too. However, I was 14 and didn't have kids. Niecy has two, so I understood where Mary Jane was coming from. MJ admits at that moment that she had an abortion, trying to do the reasonable, responsible thing to not be a burden to others. She clearly feels a little bitterness behind the fact that Niecy has been babied by Paul and Helen with her babies in tow, as well as the fact that her family her birthday, after she's worked to help them. She says outright that she could have had a six year old to spend her birthday with if she had known she could've been taken care of like Niecy. Paul grabs her in a hug and comforts her.

At the end of the episode, Mark does his last broadcast, and gives a little speech to the crew, stating
that it's time for the next part of his journey. He gets emotional, and admits he'll miss everyone, thanking them for an amazing five years at SNC. At Mary Jane's, Mark surprises her with a little cake, proving he actually didn't forget her birthday. He reveals he officially sold his house, and has found a crew in London to check out before going to Nigeria. He admits he's scared, but he's more scared to not do what he wants to do, and not live in the moment. Mary Jane and Mark will definitely miss each other, especially Mary Jane since Mark is often her voice of reason. The two of them end the episode with a dance battle to Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock's "It Takes Two." I love their friendship, and will miss seeing that on the show. I'm not sure what is going to happen with Mark's character going forward, but I hope he comes back.
