Jazmine Sullivan tore down the house at her stop back in the DMV last night (December 30) for The Reality Show Tour! I had actually just seen her at For Sisters Only in D.C. on Halloween, but surprised my sister on Christmas with tickets to see her! I had always liked Jazmine and thought she was a great singer. However, her third album, Reality Show was, to me, her career-defining album, and made me truly fall in love with her, so I was all too happy to go see her again.

Jazmine SHUT DOWN the Fillmore Silver Spring in Maryland, singing her heart out for her fans as well as opening up about her past experiences in love and learning to love herself again. It was an emotional, fun, incredible night, and I'll definitely be going to see here again.

Check out a few pics and videos below!

Neo-soul duo Floetry are back after a ten-year hiatus, performing on a reunion tour for their fans throughout the country! The tour kicked off in Cleveland in mid-June, but now the tour has been extended to dates in August!

"Before their split in 2005, the English-soul group sold over 1.5 million albums and were considered to be the most promising neo-soul team at the time. While still maintaining a friendship, both creatives released multiple solo projects. Natalie "the Floacist" Stewart released 3 studio recorded albums. Marsha "the Songstress" Ambrosius went on to release two mixtapes and two studio albums, which resulted in three Grammy nominations."

I started listening to Tori Kelly a few years ago. I can't remember how I found her videos singing, but I did, and was awed by her talent! I bought her EPs, Handmade Songs by Tori Kelly and Foreword, and listened to any songs or covers of hers that I can find. If you haven't heard of her, you definitely need to check her out!

I had the opportunity to see Tori live on her Where I Belong Tour, which hit The Fillmore in Silver Spring, MD on June 19.  The tour also featured singer/songwriter Gavin James, who was amazing as well! Tori herself seemed like such a sweetheart, and really has a passion for music and storytelling through her songs. Her music is positive, real, and fun, and that's why I love her so much. She performed some of her older songs, as well as new tracks from her upcoming debut album, Unbreakable Smile, which drops on June 23! You can stream the album now on iTunes Radio (I'll also be reviewing for the blog as well)!

Check out some footage from the show below!

Mariah Carey is heading to Vegas! The singer has signed a deal to do a residency at Caesars
Palace!

The singer made the announcement in a pre-recorded appearance at the Ellen Degeneres Show, which will air later today, Thursday Jan. 15. "I'm going to do my first ever residency in Vegas at Caesars," she said with a smile. "This is a special event for me. And again, I have to hope that the fans will enjoy this because I’m gonna be performing, which was kind of inspired by my album Number 1’s, and this is now the updated version with 18 of them," she explained.

See her announce the news below!

It's no secret that Mariah's present vocals aren't anywhere near her 90s vocals, BUT she is legend! People will definitely still come out and pay to see her. I ain't mad at her for getting her coin! Good luck to her in Vegas!

Happy New Year everybody!!!! Can't believe it's 2015! Wishing you all much love and success in the new year!

Last night, I started 2015 by seeing my favorite rapper perform. Wale KILLED it on his first stop of the Simply Nothing Tour at the Fillmore Silver Spring. The rapper featured Fat Trel and Sl*tty Boyz in the show as well, and the DMV really came out to support him. I was happy to finally catch him on New Year's Day!

This is my fourth time now seeing Wale, and it's always like the very first time. I still get as hyped as I did that very first time I saw him at Towson University some years back. He's a true artist, always wanting to connect and reach the people, and that has never changed. I see the growth not only in his fans, but in his music. I respect him and admire him honestly, which is why I go to shows whenever I can and tweet and post pics, and all that I do. I'm a very proud Moon always!

If you are a fellow Moon then be sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram...I would love to connect with y'all!

On Thursday, December 18, I was blessed with an opportunity to attend and cover Anthony Hamilton's "Home for The Holidays" tour stop in Washington, D.C. The tour features soul singers Leela James and Mali Music, and it was an amazing show!  All three of these great acts were the perfect combo for this tour. The vibe with everybody was positive and chill, and I had so much fun, singing and dancing to wonderful soul music all night!

Read more on my experience, and check out some photos and video below!

Triscina Grey of WHUR 96.3 was the host of the evening, introducing each act. Mali Music came on first as the opener. I had heard some of his music before, but he made me a fan last night. His music, which included hits like "Walking Shoes" and "Ready Aim" was so moving and inspirational. I really vibed with him, and ended up purchasing some of his music after the concert to listen to.

Leela James is one of the biggest balls of energy I have ever seen perform! Seriously, her talent is impeccable, but what really draws you in is her passion for music as she sang songs like "Music" and "So Good." She had the audience glued to her the entire time as she performed and really engaged everyone. She even jumped off the stage and into the aisles to see and touch the people (if you see her silhouette of her and her hair, that's how close she was to me...the light was blinding!). Leela left it all on the stage, and I was seriously impressed.

When I tell you Anthony and his background singers, the Hamiltones, SANGGGGG!!! I almost fell out (*laughs*)! Anthony sang songs from his Home For The Holidays album (an amazing project for the holidays...definitely go listen and buy it!), as well as his classic hits like "Cool" and my favorite "Can't Let Go," as well as his latest "Best of Me." He and his entire band had so much energy and great musical chemistry together...probably the best I've seen between a main act and his background singers ever. Everyone loved their dance steps and soulful voices, especially the ladies! Yes, I swooned. They even did a gospel medley of some old school songs that you would hear in the church!

Overall, the concert was amazing!Anthony puts so much effort into his show, and I loved every aspect of it!  I would definitely go see him again in concert. Perfect for a romantic date night! (*winks*)

Check out my pictures and some great video from the concert below!

This summer has been too much fun, filled with trips, concerts, and great events! Best summer I've had in a long time! Last week, I went to the Phi Beta Sigma Step Show, as the fraternity celebrated their 100th anniversary in DC (Congrats to them!!!). My best friend Chelsey and her sorority sister Joyti are a part of Zeta Phi Beta, which are sisters to the Sigmas, so they went out to support them throughout the week. Last Thursday, though, the Sigmas hosted a step show with several chapters battling it out for first place! After the step show, there was a concert by the one and only Wale! Now, if you've followed me long enough, you know I'm a HUGE fan of Wale (see this concert, and this concert)! It had been a few years since I saw him live, so, even though I was going to support my friends as they supported their brothers' celebration, I was mostly going to see my favorite rapper (was rocking my #Ambition tshirt and everything!).

I was going to wait until Friday to put out these videos, but I've been editing and uploading a lot of the day, so I figured why not today?! Plus, it's #WaleWednesday, so, especially for the rest of Wale Nation, here you go!

Wale also performed a new song that night! Now, this may or may not be the title, but I just went by the hook, which was "We Don't Believe You (*laughs*)." Excited to see what he has in store for the fans!

And, of course, check out a little bit of the Sigmas stepping and strolling for the show as well!

Definitely had a great time, and excited to see Wale again hopefully soon after The Album About Nothing drops later in the year! Congrats again Sigmas on 100 years!
I have to admit, I've been busy enjoying life this month, taking some time away from both work and the blog, relaxing, going to Montreal, checking out some concerts, and visiting family. Though it probably seems bad professionally, personally I'm quite okay with that. All work and absolutely no play will drive you to a whole other level of crazy, so July really was/is the month to take some time out for me and regroup. I definitely have some new personal and career ideas in motion, though!

While most of you were off enjoying the fireworks and partying on Fourth of July weekend, I took a trip with my best friend and her sorority sister to Montreal, Quebec, Canada!!! From July 3-7, the city hosted the annual Montreal International Jazz Festival, bringing over local and international artists to perform throughout the city! It was really cool to experience another country and culture, and I hope to take a major trip every year outside of the U.S.!

Diana Ross was set to perform July 3-4 at the Place Des Arts, just a few blocks from our hotel, so my bestie snagged us tickets! It was AMAZING to be in the audience as a TRUE legend performed! And, of course, I got some video!

Now we were high up in the balcony, so there was only so much even my incredible Sony Cybershot could do in terms of zoom. However, for where I was, I will definitely take this video! Regardless, the concert was so much fun, and, like I said, I saw a LEGEND perform! I will remember that for life. Ms. Ross had so much energy and really put on a show, and everyone loved it. We danced and sang (I apologize in advance if you hear me on the video!), and left feeling great.

Check out some video of the performance below!
(0:00-1:13 “Intro/Baby Love”
1:13-4:04 “The Boss”
4:04-7:30 “Upside Down”
7:30-8:51 “Ease On Down The Road”
8:51-14:44 “Don’t Explain (Billie Holiday Cover)”

14:44-21:25 “I Will Survive (Finale)”)

So much fun!

This post should have happened a LONG time ago, but the busyness of life and work took over.  That shows just how far behind I am with a lot of blog work, but, now that I am FINALLY on vacation, I plan to catch up on a lot! Right now, I'm blogging from beautiful Montreal, QuĂ©bec, Canada! There's so much amazing culture and art here, and I can't wait to share it with you guys! Plus I'm going to see the legendary DIANA ROSS tonight, so you know I'll have some videos and pictures!

As we all know, Danity Kane has reunited, and they are steadily working on making some new music for the fans! Back in May (May 31st to be exact), I went to Danity Kane's No Filter Tour which stopped at the Fillmore in Silver Spring, MD, the closest stop on the tour to me.

Check out some videos and pics below!

The tour was opened up by upcoming singers GoGo Morrow and Jessi Malay. Both of them had high energy and good material, though I'll admit I like GoGo better. I saw her interview with Kevin and Makael of The Skorpion Show, and check out a little about her (Random: I actually saw her outside taking pictures under the marquee before show time, and snapped a photo of my own!

Check out GoGo and Jessi perform below!

Then came the main event! DANITY KANE!!!! Aubrey, Dawn, Aundrea, and Shannon came out in full effect, hitting the stage with crazy energy and love for the fans! First, all four of them did a set of some of their greatest songs together, including "Bad Girl," "Damaged," "Show Stopper," and "Poetry," They even did a special little tease for this random guy in the audience during "Right Now," that I captured on camera. We already know that Aundrea, who I am about 85% sure is already pregnant, would be leaving the group after the tour to get married and start a family, so she came out and said a few words, announcing the new era of DK3 with just Aubrey, Dawn, and Shannon. I'll be honest, when I heard that she was leaving, I was afraid that Danity Kane wouldn't be able to keep up, but I was wrong! The remaining ladies did a few new songs, including my new riding song, "Lemonade," and KILLED IT!

Check out the ladies of Danity Kane ripping the stage below!

Overall, I had a really great time! I rode solo, as I do to most concerts, which is always interesting because of the people you get to talk to and meet since you're alone. After five long years, I'm working on actually getting behind the scenes to these type of shows, so we will see what happens!

A few weeks ago, I got a message from a particular MeetUp group I joined (though I have yet to actually meet up with anyone haha) about a free event at the Kennedy Center for Black Girls Rock! The event, formally titled Rock! Like A Girl, was an open concert held on April 5 as a part of the One Mic Festival that the Kennedy Center has been hosting for the past week or so that will continue until April 14 (definitely check it out!).

This special event celebrated women in hip hop, and featured artists like MC Lyte, Jean Grae,  Miri Ben-Ari, Ana Tijoux, DC female go go band Be'la Dona, Rapsody, DJ Beverly Bond (the founder of BGR), and the amazing Ms. Lauryn Hill!!!!! I mean, how many people can say that they've actually seen Ms. Hill LIVE?! My cousin and I went down, and had an amazing time! Standing in a line wrapped around the corner was definitely worth it, and we got to chat and chill with a few great people as well (special shout out to Ariel and her little baby Ky!)

I really did enjoy myself, and, as a black girl myself, am very proud of the work that DJ Beverly Bond is doing with this amazing foundation! As you can tell from the videos, we were definitely rocking in there! It was an honor and pleasure to be able to sit back and enjoy these talented ladies rock the mic, and just nice to get out and do something fun! I've been so caught up in work that I forget to live. (I'll talk more about that on BrittanyShawnte.com later this week). I had a great time!

Check out the videos below!

"D.C. Say 'Heyyyyy Mrs. Carter....."

If you were at The Mrs. Carter Show last night, or any night for that matter, you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter and her crew hit Washington D.C. last night, with another show going down at the Verizon Center again tonight. I've been a major stan of hers since I was a kid, but have never seen her live...until last night. I bought these tickets back in FEBRUARY, and was close enough on the side to get GREAT video! It still surprises me that I didn't end up in the nosebleeds somewhere (my fellow Beyhive members are INTENSE).

The show was INCREDIBLE. I don't care what anyone says, and I promise I'm not saying this just as a stan. Beyoncé is the greatest performer IN. THE. WORLD. Her performances that you see on YouTube or on TV don't do her total justice. You honestly won't get it until you see her LIVE. I had to share some of my experiences, photos, and video from the show for you all! Fair warning, the video contains major clips from the show (for those who still haven't seen the show and want it to be a surprise)!

The first shocker happened before the show even started when I was walking to the arena, and spotted a tall man in front of me with a huge fro, and a skateboard in hand!  I said to myself, "There's no way." But when I saw other people stopping and staring, I knew that it was one of the Les Twins. By myself, I caught up to him (I think it was Laurent), and asked for a picture, and he said, 'Yeah, but quickly love." Only I had JUST turned my phone off and couldn't find my camera!!! So embarrassing *facepalm*

I got in the doors, bought a program and posters for my sister and me, and took my seat The show had general admission on the floor, but I don't do that unless I'm one of the first ones here and KNOW that I'll be in the front. A girl has a job now outside of blogging, and can't take off of work or class to get to a concert like the good old college days anymore. Womp womp.

Luke James was the opening act, of course. I'll be honest and say that, while I know of and have heard some of his amazing vocals, I put him to the back burner a little bit. But BABY, that man is a SANGER. When you see him live, you appreciate his God-given talent just a little bit more. I'm definitely buying his debut album when it comes out, and getting those mixtapes!

And what can I say about Mrs. Carter?!!!!!! I KNEW that show was going to be incredible, but when I actually saw her, it was surreal. I recorded a lot, as you probably knew I would, but many times I just had to stop and remind myself to enjoy this show. Here I am, in a stadium, with a woman who I have admired since I was probably 8 or 9, and she's singing her heart out, and giving her all for her fans. I had to enjoy the moment, especially when I don't know when it's going to happen again. I sang and screamed to the top of my lungs, and danced like I was the only one in the place. To me, I might as well have been, because no one else around me matter ha!

With songs including "Crazy In Love," "Naughty Girl,"and "Baby Boy," "Freakum Dress" and "Irreplaceable," "If I Were A Boy," "Diva," and "Single Ladies," and "Run The World" as the opener, as well as "I Care," and "End of Time," Bey hit all of her eras perfectly. Of course, my jam "Grown Woman" got me out of my seat acting crazy! It was just an incredible performance, and I'm so happy that I went. $280 for a seat in the first section diagonal from the stage was not bad at all!

Check out some of my clips from the show below!

It's only been a week since Beyoncé performed at Atlantic City's new Revel Resorts and Casino, and already she has plans to put out the DVD. She and her team released the trailer for the DVD today, which I'm really excited about! I didn't get a chance to go to the concert, but I've seen a lot of the performances on YouTube (basically the whole concert!) LOL but I know that Bey and her editing team will put together an amazing DVD, so I'll be buying! No word on when it will actually be released. I'm hoping sometime before the end of summer. Check out the trailer below!

Image via Global Grind
BeyoncĂ© has released the official trailer for her upcoming DVD from her four nights at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC this summer. Live at Roseland: Elements of 4 will feature Bey's performances of songs from her album 4, as well as performances of past hits like "Crazy in Love", "Get Me Bodied," and more.

The package has a two-disc DVD with the entire concert, bonus offstage footage, a 20-page booklet and a video anthology that includes seven videos from 4, including "Run The World" and "Party." Fans will also get to see never-before-seen footage from Beyoncé's childhood, and see her transformation from dreamer to global superstar!

Check out the trailer for the DVD after the jump!

This DVD is going to KILL! I'm glad that Bey gave the fans a little something since we all know she won't be going on tour anytime soon. The DVD is already up for pre-order on Amazon for $14.99 (the list price is originally $21.98), and will be available November 29! I'm definitely getting my copy! How about yall?

So for those of you who know me, or those who follow the blog/my Twitter page, you know I love a man by the name of Wale Folarin. And that I have been talking about going to this concert for a long, LONG time! I had bought my VIP Meet and Greet package the second Wale announced he was going to bring the Ambition Tour to the Fillmore in Silver Spring. (Shoutout to Fatz and Black Cobain who performed too by the way)

Unfortunately, the meet and greet was canceled, which blew my life, because I really wanted to tell him how much I appreciated his artistry and his beautiful words. And also to tell him that he doesn't know it yet, but we're getting married one day haha. But it was all good. Per usual, as I am at 90% of my concerts, I was FRONT ROW CENTER! Had an absolutely amazing time! So I have video and pics for you guys after the jump...check them out! SPOTLIGHT EXCLUSIVE!

Here's an overview of Wale and Black Cobain :-) Times below. And I swear ON MY LIFE that I sing a lot better than what you hear on these videos haha. Oh, and by the way, I touched him at the 9:00 mark!!!!*falls out*

I'll put up some pics in a little bit!

Was supposed to put this yesterday, but was a little preoccupied. Anywho, here's some pics and video for the J. Cole concert at Baltimore Soundstage from Thursday night! Absolutely amazing! J. Cole is definitely on my list of artists to interview. Mainly because I was so impressed by his artistry and humility.

Oh, and shout out to the groupies too pressed to touch him that were knocking me around left and right (that's why my camera goes so crazy throughout!). Told my friend I wish concerts were like back in the 60's/70s were people actually just danced and enjoyed the music, rather than being obsessed with touching people! But I had an amazing time regardless! Video and pics after the jump!

Sorry for this sort of blueness in the shots yall. For some reason, as good as my new Sony Cybershot cam is, it was not working with those blue lights Jermaine had on! Most of the vid still came out pretty decent though.

Swear my life has been all about concerts lately! Like I really have money to blow like that....pshhh. Wale later tonight! Bad news: Meet and Greet was canceled. Talk about something that BLEW MY LIFE. :-( It's all good though. Video and pics will still be up! :-)

Look what came in the mail today! My VIP commemorative laminate and my #Ambition t-shirt! Wale VIP at the Fillmore tomorrow! Had to put up pics! Shoutout to my girl Tiffany for letting me rock her sunglasses just now. Had to feel cool haha. Videos and pics of the concert? Of course :-)

Working on the J. Cole videos and pics now....they'll be up a little later. Along with my last Jersey Shore recap for the finale.

As I've been promising all day on Twitter, here is the combined video of all the songs I I shot last night at Chris Brown's concert. The F.A.M.E. Tour hit Baltimore last night, with appearances from Kelly Rowland, T-Pain & Tyga.

I had an amazing time!!! Tyga opened with his 15 minutes on stage. Not the biggest fan of his, but he did a pretty good job. Miss Kelly worked on that stage last night with her long lacefront! The only thing that I was disappointed about her time on stage was that it wasn't all that long. She only got about 20 minutes, and I know that everybody says, "Well what songs does she really have?" And I mean to tell you, A GOOD BIT! She did a couple of DC3 songs, but that could've been a longer medley. And she definitely could've done some more songs from Here I Am.

Even though I'm not the biggest T-Pain fan either, I've seen him before and he always puts on a show! He's very energetic and crazy on stage. As always, Chris Brown killed. POINT BLANK PERIOD. There was never any doubt about that. I had the best time. Check out the video of all of the performances I got after the jump!

0-2:01 “Roger That”/“I’m So Raw”—Tyga
2:01-3:52 “Like This”—Kelly Rowland
3:52-4:19 Kelly Doing “Da Butt!”
4:19-6:09 “Blame It”—T-Pain & “Drop It Low” Dance Break
6:09-7:45 “All I Do Is Win”
7:45-11:27 COUNTDOWN TO CHRIS BROWN!!!/“Say It With Me”
11:27-12:18 “I Can Transform Ya”
12:18-15:18 “Wall To Wall”
15:18-17:05 “Run It”
17:05-17:50 “Wet The Bed”
17:50-19:29 “Take You Down”
19:29-20:38 “She Ain’t You”
20:38-21:35 “Look at Me Now”
21:35-22:38 “Next 2 U”
22:38-End “No Air”

O-M-FREAKING-G!!!! Ok, those who know me know that I am a proud Gleek! I have the whole first season and have pre-order the second season set to come in September! With the third season premiering in the fall (the final season for Rachel, Finn, and Kurt played by Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, and Chris Colfer respectively), the creators of Glee have decided to release a concert movie in 3D, featuring all of the cast singing live and behind the scene clips! The movie trailer apparently premiered at the Harry Potter premiere today! The movie is set to be release August 12. TOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!! Check the trailer below!

PEACE.

And now the vids!!!! Point blank period, Wale and B.o.B. are two of the hottest artists out right now. I pray that Wale gets the credit he deserves. He's mad underrated....we'll see with the next album. Check the vids!!! I apologize in advance for my yelling lol you can hear me loud and clear, and I'm yelling, not really singing. For the record, I got a little voice lol Also there's some shaking, and the vids are mostly sideways throughout. Recording wasn't really allowed, but I managed to get these by just acting like I was holding it while it was recording. Haha I just told on myself but whatevs! Just a little taste of what I experienced! Enjoy after the jump :-)

"Pretty Girls"-Wale

"No Hands"-Wale

"Nothing On You"-B.o.B.

"Airplanes"-B.o.B

PEACE.

Good morning everyone! A happy morning indeed! Even though it's Monday (blehhh), my life was made last night! I had the opportunity to go to see Wale and B.o.B at Towson University! How I go to Loyola and still managed to buy my ticket last night and get FRONT ROW CENTER?!!! I'm a blessed chick lol

These two dudes KILLED!!! Yall know that I'm in love with Wale, (he's really the main reason I even went) and have been for quite some time. That's my rapper husband right now lol (yall see him lookin dead at me in this pic??? lol) but I digress. Wale got the crowd mad hyped! Jumping off stage and into the crowd, doing the gogo swing! I was rocking for real! And he was legit doing a UStream from stage lol hope yall caught it! I was also really impressed with B.o.B. I don't listen to him like that, but his lyrics proved to me why I should. I could tell he has such a passion for music, and he's mad talented! Sings, raps, plays piano and guitar, and who knows what else! I still think that Wale should have been headliner instead of B.o.B. More of the fans knew Wale over B.o.B., but I know Towson picked B.o.B to headline cuz he's getting more attention and has more sales. He's good in my book though. Gonna sit and listen to his album tomorrow.  Anywaysss...here are some pics from the concert! Vids will come a little bit later! Don't wanna have too much in one post! Enjoy after the jump :-)

Some dude named PlayBoy Tre. Maybe I need to get up on my music, but I never hear of him til tonight. Did a song with B.o.B though. Sooooo country lol but a good rapper.
LOVE OF MY MUSIC LIFE---WALE!!!!! This fool jumped in the crowd, like 3, 4 times. Got us all mad hyped!!!!

<--Swear that's his arm right there. He jumped right in front of me, and everybody was pushing and shoving. Tried to snap a pic...this was the closest I got LOL

He is sexy to me. Maybe it's his insightful lyrics or that swag (played out term, but until someone comes up with something better, that's all I got) and accent that D.C. and PG dudes have that just makes me swoon! I love him :-) Made my day to see him, and so close!!!! He was so close to me, I was tempted to hug him, but I ain't wanna be that girl, that groupie you know? Haha

Full shot of B.o.B and his band on stage

B.o.B's shoes were madddd hot!!!!! Had to snap a pic lol

B.o.B is an amazing musician. There's a difference. To be able to sing or rap is an amazing gift. But to be able to play instruments along with that, is INCREDIBLE. Ok, I need to listen to him (and J. Cole #random but true).

Vids later!!!!

PEACE.
