Hailing from the West Side of Detroit, we have rapper Young Holley! He got his start in music after his brother-in- law showed him the movie Krush Groove (Hey Uncle Rush!) when he was a kid. The most memorable scene for him was when LL Cool J rushed into an audition when the auditions were already over. They were trying to kick him out but he was so good when he rapped for them that they signed him on the spot. This had such a great impact on Holley as a child that it became one of his favorite movies and birthed his love of rap. 


Young Holley said the difference between him and other rappers is that his ability to create real music that will hold the attention of listeners. "I'm not afraid to be myself in my music or speak on very personal situations," the rapper said. "Music is therapy for me and it's the only thing I am passionate about." Young Holly also noted that he was inspired by his doubters and anyone overcoming obstacles and chasing their dreams. This type of passion and inspiration helped create his new single, "Grind For It." He stated that everyone has "to work for what you want. That's the only way you'll get it. Nothing was ever given to me."

Currently, the rapper is working on an untitled project, which features "Grind For It" as the first single. The track is available for purchase now on iTunes. In the meantime, fans and new listeners should check out his latest mixtape GRIP!  

We ended our interview by asking Holley about any potential work with frequent collaborator, friend and fellow rapper Cash McKenzie. As of now, they are both focused on their individual projects, but he hopes to have some new collaborations with the rapper  in the future.

Most 80's babies should be excited to hear a Power Rangers movie is in the works for a 2017 release. To hear that one of the Rangers has been casted is MAJOR news that the movie is moving forward nicely. Actress Naomi Scott has been casted as the Pink Ranger! Naomi was recently seen in the Ridley Scott-directed movie The Martian starring Matt Damon as an astronaut trying to survive and make his way back to Earth.

UPI says Naomi Scott will play 17-year-old Kimberly Ann Hart, an "unconventionally cool" high school student who returns to school after a mysterious six-month absence. According to reports, the character returns to school with a "rebel-without-a-cause, edgy attitude," but is actually hiding "a deep secret."
Producers announced the role on Instagram Wednesday, marking the movie handle's first post. "It's official!" the post read. "#NaomiScott will play the #PinkRanger in the @PowerRangersMovie! Coming in 2017."

Nas took to his Instagram page to speak on America, speaking out on what he feels needs to be done in order to create a better nation:

"America has spent so much time, money & resources fighting wars abroad and completely fell asleep at the wheel of the war brewing within our cities, neighborhoods & blocks. We are supposed to stand for freedom & equal opportunity. That's supposed to mean MORE than just words but the actions of late just don't speak to what we are supposed to stand for. This is BIGGER than BLACK and WHITE. This is about America selling a false dream. Now we've obviously progressed since the inception of this nation but we took our eye off the ball and it feels as though things are moving backwards. As a black man, I find it difficult to understand that our biggest export (our American culture) comes from us. The people in the streets... The way the world dresses, talks, what they listen to, what they watch... That all comes from us. How can we be the ones responsible for America's biggest export & fear for our lives like we shouldn't belong here. I don't have all the answers nor do I believe anyone does, but we need to have conversations around how to improve as a nation. How do we show any ounce of progress that keeps hope alive. This is too big of a problem to be solved overnight but there needs to be some questions answered to get things back on the track of righteousness. Amazing people died for this country. We owe it to the past, present & future to come together and move this country in the right direction. This is my home just like it is anyone else's. RIP CRISPUS ATTUCKS.
