Grammy-winning producer Timbaland has announced that he will release his new mixtape, King Stays King on Christmas Day through MyMixtapez.com. Featuring collaborations from artists like Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan, Mila JBlaze, and more, this project will be a great gift to the fans for the holidays!

Per The Purple Agency, the 16 track mixtape is Timbaland's first major project since working as executive music producer for FOX's hit show Empire.  The mixtape is set to also feature an unreleased track from the late singer, Aaliyah, who Timbaland worked closely with throughout her career.

"It's been a while since I've been able to give the world some new music. I've spent a lot of time working on this project and I am just looking forward to giving my fans some dope sounds to close out the year," he said.

A Friday pick me up mixtape for you all! I want to start featuring more tracks and mixtapes on the blog, because there are a lot of talent artists out there that deserve their shine!

The artist for today I had the privilege of featuring a few years ago. His name is Nova, and he has released a new mixtape that you all should check out!

Just Practicing 3 is the 3rd and final installment to the Just Practicing series that Nova has been developing for listeners! The mixtape, released back in February, features singles "Fulfill My Dream" and "SoBe Live."

Check out the mixtape below and download it to add to your collection! You can learn more about Nova and check out his work on his official website, as well as connect with him on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram!

As always, any upcoming artists, designers, producers, etc, that want to feature their work on The Spotlight, feel free to email me at brittanyshawnte@jwwwd.com!

Since the start of The Spotlight, I've been able to connect with a lot of talented upcoming artists for features and mixtape releases. It's been an incredible addition to the blog (email me for a feature of your own!).

Rapper 8More released his mixtape only hours ago. Endustry 8 was created based off of this upcoming rapper's serious drive and chase for success. The hunger is blatant in this mixtape, as 8More strives to make a name for himselve in this industry. "The people like my family, friends and even my haters gave me even more inspiration than I could of imagined," he also said.

Read more and listen to the mixtape below!

Endustry 8 gives features from underground artists Freck Billionaire, Ruga Dre Butcher, Sean Christian, and more! While the project has instrumentals, 8More produced 75% of the beats accompanying the mixtape.

The overall message of the project is "life" according to 8More. "It's a fun project about how most people think this industry is worth chasing but it's really not unless you're following your dreams and not the fame!" the rapper said. The track that he really thinks everyone should check out? "Track 15, 'We Up In Dis.' It's very electrifying and spry...[a] club mover!" he said.

Even though the mixtape just dropped, 8More is making plans for his newest project World's Favorite Number Megawatts 1.8 to be released in March of next year. He also has three new music videos coming out in December and January.

Endustry 8 is available online at various websites include DatPiff.com, LiveMixtapes.com, and HipHopReleases.com. Check it out and download it below!

Hello, hello everyone! Happy New Year to you all! Today, I'm listening to my boy Smash Adams' new mixtape F.N.A.O. (Failure's Not An Option), which includes his single "Blackout." The tape dropped this past week, and I gotta say I'm proud of the little clown haha. He's doing what he said he would! Listen to it below!

Wale wasn't even supposed to drop a mixtape. Especially not mere months before the release of his album Ambition, which hits stores 11.1.11--hence the name of the mixtape). Did it just for the fans, and I love him for it. Unfortunate for me, I have to wait until I get home to download (*sadness*) When I do, headed right to my laptop and getting it, and skipping right to Ambitious Girls Part 2 haha. Then I'll start it over.

The mixtape features Black Cobain, J. Holiday, Lloyd and others. The production team includes Hitboy, DJ Toomp, and Deputy.

Can I say that the reason that I post a lot about Wale is because I'm proud of him. Like SUPER proud of him. Yeah, of somebody I don't even know. Just because of the simple fact that he's from the DMV, and he made it. And that makes kids out here trying to break out into the entertainment industry in whatever facet, believe that we can make it too.

Full tracklist and download link is below!

"Thought this was forever love. Guess it was just seasonal."

Wale is one of my favorite rappers out now, not necessarily because he's from my area (DMV All Day!) but because he's versatile. He talks truth about a lot, if people would just get off his style, whether or not he's really from DC, his "douchebag qualities," etc., and actually LISTEN. I have mad respect for him as a rapper, because he's not the typical. And I'm glad that people are starting to realize that. He just signed his deal with Maybach, so I'm looking forward to what he has in store for the fans this year and beyond...

So yesterday, he dropped a video for "The Break Up Song" off his 2010 mixtape More About Nothing. People say it's late, but I say it's right on time, cuz this song has been on A LOT for the last week for me. So when the video came out, I had that on replay too. Especially cuz Wale is just so freakin sexy. You don't have to agree, but it ain't your blog ha! I love dreadheads, and DMV dudes in general. My bestie says I need to give that up, but can't help it. They are...like none other haha. But I digress. Mr. Folarin just dropped the FULL version of "Break Up Song" a couple of minutes ago, featuring some of his spoken word (sounding like it'll be Ambitious Girl Pt. 2???) and a narration from Morgan Freeman. Check it out below!

PEACE.

Soooo...I was in love with a boy named Julito McCullum from off The Wire Season 4 lol He's now branched out into rap, going by J. Brice (J for Julito, Brice was his character Namond's last name). And he's doing pretty decent. Got his last mixtape, The Premiere, a while back, and he's pretty good.

He will be releasing his next mixtape, Ladies Only, as sort of a pre-Valentine's gift for the ladies I figure lol on February 1 of next year. He just released the album cover a few minutes ago. Love the wrap around the woman's leg lol Guess this album is gonna be hella sexy huh? Can't wait to hear :-) Follow J. Brice on Twitter

PEACE.

Hey hey all, hope all is well this Tuesday morning. Not gonna lie, struggling to maintain the blog and school once again. Finals at Loyola are next week, so if I disappear (I'm gonna try my best not to) don't be surprised.

Sooo....I definitely didn't know B.o.B was releasing a mixtape today! I'm new on his train, but I really like him! Ever since that concert over at Towson. He's really good! Listen and download his official mixtape No Genre below!!!!

PEACE.
Ok, so I have been wondering and wondering where this girl has been. Seems like after her last album, The High Road, and her Lifetime featured movie, True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet, singer JoJo disappeared off the face of the earth. I was worried she got dropped, but she is still signed to Blackground Records and is working on a deal so she can release her third album, which is set to come out early next year.

In the meantime, JoJo has given her fans a little present while they wait. Rap-Up.com provided us with JoJo's first mixtape, Can't Take That Away From Me! The 11-track tape features production from Chad Hugo of The Neptunes, Kenna, and Neff-U, among others.

JoJo said in a statement on her blog, “In releasing this mixtape, I’m affirming that even though some have tried they CAN’T TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME. “What is THAT? My voice, my spirit, my drive, my dreams. As you listen to these songs, I hope that they make your head nod, your mind tick, your emotions move, your belly laugh, and maybe elicit a ’stanky face’ or something ;) Lol.”

Well, I'm glad for this. I always thought that she was extremely talented, and I look forward to listening to the mixtape after I get out of my last class. 3 hours yall! Pray for me haha. Listen and download below!
