"Love you then they hate you then they love you again. Hate you then they love you then they hate you again."-Wale ("LoveHate Thing")

I normally don't post much on weekends. First I want to celebrate the four year anniversary of The Spotlight really quick! This blog has opened several doors for me, and I'm striving to take it to another level! I'm proud of the work that I've done, grateful for the opportunities given and for gaining experience through this blog when I couldn't find anything in the industry. I'm not looking back, but moving forward!

On to business! Wale has officially dropped his video for "LoveHate Thing," his second single off of his upcoming album, The Gifted, which will be released this Tuesday, June 25th! The visual definitely connects well with the message and style of the track. The rapper takes it old school, featuring singer Sam Dew performing with his band, in stylish suits, as the sound is reminiscent of Motown, 50s and 60s era. He reflects on his upbringing, his journey through music, and his rise in his career.

Check out the video below!

Obviously, you know that I'm a huge fan of his, not only because he is from my area and I support my own, but because I respect his artistry and lyricism. I'm TOO excited for Wale's release (if you follow me on Twitter, I'm ALWAYS promoting him in some way). It's just amazing to see how far he has come in this industry, and I'm so proud as a fan to have been along for the journey. Make sure to pick up a copy of The Gifted on June 25th!

It’s official! The heavily awaited series Girl Meets World, reboot of the classic '90s series Boy Meets World, has officially been picked up to series by Disney Channel! The network made the official announcement this morning.

"I am grateful to everyone at Disney Channel for the opportunity to reach my favorite audience, which has always been kids," creator Michael Jacobs said in as statement. "Girl Meets World is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made Boy Meets World so popular."
The show’s main plot centers centers on one of my favorite TV couples Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) as parents to a young girl named Riley (Rowan Blanchard). Cory is a history teacher at Riley's middle school, and Topanga owns a afterschool spot that specializes in pudding. The show will begin production this summer in Los Angeles, with a planned 2014 premiere date on Disney Channel.

Set in New York City, Girl Meets World will "tell the wonderfully funny, heartfelt stories that Boy Meets World is renowned for, only this time from a tween girl's perspective," Disney Channel stated in a press release. Riley also has her very own Shawn (Rider Strong) in the form of her quick-witted best friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter). Rider, however, will not be appearing in the series.

I’m definitely excited for this series! Boy Meets World was one of my favorite shows growing up, and I’m happy to see Ben and Danielle back as Cory and Topanga. Even though I’ve long since given up the Disney Channel, I’m definitely going to be checking out this series!

Sad news. Paris Jackson, daughter of late legend Michael Jackson, was rushed to the hospital early this morning after a suicide attempt. Paris’ biological mother, Debbie Rowe, confirmed the news to Entertainment Tonight, adding that her daughter had "cuts on her wrist."

TMZ had reported that a 911 call was placed from Paris’ home in Calabasas, CA, around 1:30 a.m., and that she was wheeled out on a stretcher shortly after.

An insider explained to Us Weekly that Paris “has major depression issues, a lot of it stemming from her dad's death.” "It's very real and very sad," the insider added. "She has been extremely depressed and not been able to sleep lately, staying up all night."

Shortly before her emergency, Paris tweeted cryptic messages that were a little off. "Wonder why tears are salty? Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away now it looks as though they're here to stay."

Very sad indeed. It has been almost four years to the day since MJ passed, and I understand that she, especially as a young teen, is struggling with losing her father. Instead of passing judgement, let’s just lift her and her family up in prayer.
