Morning yall! I wanna give a shoutout to my girl Tiffany who is celebrating her 20th Birthday today!!! WHOOOOO! LOVE YA GIRL! Guess who's up tomorrow??? Haha...

But here's a post for yall. The newest single from Jazmine Sullivan, "10 Seconds," released about a day or two ago, but it's here for those of you who haven't heard it yet. A song of anger and heartbreak, which I know people can relate to. Jazmine lets out her aggressive side in this song. I'm really excited for her new album Love Me Back, which is set for release on November 2. Her last CD Fearless was great. I think that she's an amazing singer with a lot of energy, and I'm excited to see what she has for her fans this time around!

PEACE.

Hey yall...missed you yesterday! This week is crazy! Papers, quizzes, plus birthday plans and stuff. I need to get my life together lol. Here's a post!

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom, of the LA Lakers, have renewed their vows! According to Us Magazine, Lamar popped the renewal as a surprise for Khloe in celebration of their first wedding anniversary. The renewal took place at the mansion of music producer Irving Azoff, the same location of their wedding on  Sept. 27, 2009.

"Lamar has truly made our anniversary more special than I ever could have imagined," Khloe wrote on her blog. "The day has been somewhat like a treasure hunt, moving from one surprise to the next."

That is too cute! And people said they wouldn't last! Honestly, I had my own doubts. They did only know each other for a month before they were married, but hey, love knows no bounds. They're happy, and that's all that matters! Congrats guys!

PEACE.

Afternoon yall! A while back I did a post on upcoming rapper Kdeem, my London love haha. And of course, if there is any new music or videos that come through, I gotta put it up! So here is Kdeem's new song "Soul Electric" featuring Anon. I love his voice...Listen below and download it here!

PEACE.

Afternoon everyone! OFFICIALLY THE WEEKEND! I get out of class at 10:50 on Fridays, so I've been sleeping all day, ignoring Spotlight smh haha It's been a long week...

So I have some big news for you! At least, it's big news to me. Lauren Conrad, of Laguna Beach and The Hills fame, is headed back to MTV! According to MTV News, LC will star in a new reality program about her launching her fashion line!

"I am so excited to be rejoining the MTV family," Lauren told MTV News in a statement about her new television venture. "The new project will follow me as I develop my new contemporary line and also touch on my other businesses."

LC said goodbye to MTV in 2009 after she left The Hills. Understandable because she did need to move on, and do new things. But I'm honestly glad she's back. What I've noticed about her, and this is just from watching the show, is that she's really driven, real, and has a high passion for fashion. I'm happy that she's making a name for herself past her reality stint on MTV. Books and fashion collections. I wonder what's next?

PEACE.

Hey yall, hope everything is good with you!

According to OMG! Yahoo, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg will be donating $100 million to schools in Newark, NJ on the same day that The Social Network comes out. The movie, which is supposed to be about the establishment of Faceboook, will premiere tomorrow at the New York Film Festival. It will be released in theaters on MY BIRTHDAY-OCTOBER 1ST!!! Gonna be 2-0!!! :) Haha.

Anywho, Mark is going to give his donation along with Newark Mayor Cory Booker and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie on Friday's showing of Oprah. This contribution, coming out of his $2 billion fortune, is going to be Mark's first gift to start a foundation for education.

Hmmm. Theories are already coming out about this. This may just be Zuckerberg's way of dealing with any negative publicity that comes from The Social Network, which reportedly doesn't show him in the best light. Point of the matter is however, that his money will help to the Newark schools and the other institutions he decides to donate to. Education is key, and even if it is a PR stunt, kids will be able to have more at their schools. That's the most important thing.

Check out The Social Network trailer below!

A little while back, I did a feature on upcoming rapper Philly Blocks from Louisville. Staying hard at work, Philly released a video of him and another rapper Jaureal doing a freestyle on Drake's "Light Up." Check it out below!

Good morning people! Hope all is well. Starting with an spotlight on an upcoming artist today!

Ni (pronounced Nee) Taylor is an upcoming rapper that hails from the Greedy Grove section of Dallas, Texas. She's been doing music since she was twelve. By the time she was 17, she was hitting the stage as a gospel artist under the name KDT. After two years, Ni dropped the gospel act. “I didn’t like the falsehood I saw in the ministers and Christians that were preaching to kids and then doing all kinds of foolishness behind closed doors,” she says. So from there she took a break and pursued her education.

After taking a break from performing, Ni turned back to what she knew best--MUSIC. Soon she got in communication with Dallas super producer J. Rhodes. When he heard her verse for a collaboration he was working on, he was blown away. “You better than most men,” was all he could say. After that, the two developed a strong relationship, and Ni was given the freedom to truly express herself through her music.

Ni is featured on The 80’s Baby ENT Sicktape Vol. 1, The 80’s Baby ENT “Merry Sickmas” Sicktape Vol. 2, as well as MC Lyte’s website. She is also featured on upcoming mix tapes for artists Da Dreak, Dawg Wonder, and hip hop legend Monie Love’s Femcee Mixtape. Her mixtape, Take No Prisoners, can be downloaded here. This femcee is WORKING! And listening to her music, she is AMAZING!!!! FOR REAL! She definitely has a message for her listeners, and I love her flow...Take some time and listen to some of her music below!

Hey yall! TGIF!!! Chilling in my room, relaxing until my meeting at 5. I just saw the trailer for Tyler Perry's film adaptation of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow is Enuf thanks to The Info Soup. The title, shortened to For Colored Girls, has an all-star black women cast including Kimberly Elise and Janet Jackson (who have previously starred in movies directed by Tyler), Phylicia Rashad, Whoopi Goldberg, among others. This movie looks like it's gonna be deep yall. It comes out sometime in November, and will definitely be a touching story you don't want to miss, so be on the lookout! Check out the trailer below.

Good morning everyone! Half way through the week...ready to sleep already lol

Ok, so I found this news and thought that it was interesting. MTV, fresh off their semi-mess of an award show (gonna post my favorite and most disappointing moments later), has announced that they will be releasing two new shows. According to OMG! Yahoo, one show will be about a teenage girl mistaken for being suicidal, and the other a horror comedy about cops fighting monsters.

That Girl shows a 15-year-old who gets attention after an accident leads her classmates to think she attempted suicide. (Oooook.) Death Valley stars Caity Lotz (Mad Men) and Tania Raymonde (Lost) and follows the Undead Task Force. The Force fights zombies, vampires and werewolves that have overrun the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles. Wowwwww LOL

Apparently, MTV is getting more into the horror genre for their shows and will be making a Teen Wolf remake. I don't blame them for the new horrow show. With all the vampire/werewolf shows, Zombieland, etc etc, people are really getting into that, and this show could be good. I don't know about that suicide girl show though. I give it one season, but maybe it will be good. We'll see. If not, I have Jersey Shore to back up on.

PEACE.

Hey hey people. I'm not even gonna comment this video. If you've been reading this blog long enough you know how I feel about Wale lol But here is the video for "The Work" off his More about Nothing mixtape. Shot in DC with Wale and his crew. Put in work! #nodaysoff haha story of my life....Enjoy!

PEACE.

*SPOILER ALERT!* Hey hey yall! My full MTV VMA's review is done! I've been trying to put this up all day but my internet was not cooperating. I was typing notes as it was going on LOL I'M DEDICATED! Skipped the Skins and Cowboys game (which is not good to my area) but hey I'm not a big fan of either lol. In staying somewhat loyal to the DMV, I told my Nana if I had to choose I would go with the Skins and they won. So there you go Nana haha. Anyways, here is my review of the VMA's....Hope you like it!

The VMA pre-show was cool. In a short little wrap up, saw Ne-Yo and Trey Songz looking great and a lot of other celebrities like Ke$ha, Thirty Seconds to Mars, and of course, the teen phenomenon Justin Bieber. One thing that I wish that MTV did was less talking and a little bit more performing during the pre-show like BET does. HOWEVER MTV has a more eclectic award show than BET. It's nice to see other people from different genres, and not just hip hop and R&B. (*No shade to BET AT ALL lol I love my people). Literally in two seconds, Lady Gaga won two VMA's at the pre-show, Best Dance Video for "Bad Romance" and Best Collaboration for her collaboration with Beyoncé (who wasn't in attendance) for "Telephone". These awards were the start of Gaga's sweep last night. And of course, she comes out in an outfit that only she could pull off. An Alexander McQueen original (RIP) that resembled a peacock. LOL I'm appreciating her style more and more.

One of the most anticipated performances of the entire night was blah to me. Nicki Minaj hit the stage, which I had been really excited about. I'm officially a fan. But her performance just disappointed me. You could barely understand her, and that pink wig? Not the business. And will.i.am was in blackface when he's already dark! It just wasn't a good look.

Now on to the show. Eminem opened with "Not Afraid" Can I say that I love him and I'm glad he's back! Rihanna came out later for "Love the Way You Lie" in her wanna be Nicki outfit from  and that red wig was not working for her to me. But overall, I appreciated the performance.

Chelsea Handler's entrance haha!!!! To Lady Gaga with that house on her head! I loved it lol but Lady Gaga did not look impressed. I was excited about her because I knew that she was gonna go in on people, and she definitely did! Not gonna lie though. Throughout the rest of the night, Chelsea started to irk me. The jokes got worse and worse as the night went on. My VMA experience was kind of ruined.

Throughout the night, the performances were all that I really kind of enjoyed. The presentations of the awards and the breaks in between were kinda wack to me so I stopped paying full attention after a while. Justin Bieber's performance was cool. His little fan stampede was hella fake LOL but cute. Have to admit that Bieber killed it. Yes he was lip syncing. How many artists haven't at one point in their careers? But he's still a good singer to me. And the little girls love him. Bieber fever took over the Barbies and pulled out a win for best new artist over Nicki.

His mentor Usher performed "DJ's Got Us Falling Love Again"/"OMG" LOL Was I the only one who liked his performance?! LOL people on Twitter were going IN on him! Yes he was kinda tired, and the dance moves are a bit played out, but Usher still excites me! The lights and special effects were hot on the stage and I really liked it. Florence and the Machine, who I hadn't heard of before, (need to catch up on pop culture haha) killed. Her voice was a bit iffy at times, but the performance itself was really artistic.

The big elephant in the room was addressed last night several times. The Taylor/Kanye incident last year. Chelsea joked about it a bit. Then Taylor Swift came out with her "Personal Song" which was sooooo directed at Kanye. She started out with a clip of what happened and then started to sing this longggg song. Here are some of the lyrics. "It's OK, life is a tough crowd / 32 and still growing up now / Who you are is not what you did / You're still an innocent." GIRRRRLLL GET PAST IT!!! Ok, he walked up and interrupted your speech for an award (that you didn't really deserve but ok), and he was wrong interrupting you. We know. But realize that you got a good deal of people on your side after the whole incident. You got a bunch of publicity, publicity that you may not have gotten if Kanye didn't act out that night. And he apologized. Girl please!!! Your depressing performance did not win you more sympathy.

Back to pleasant performances. Drake, in his first performance at the VMA's, performed "Fancy" with Swizz Beatz and Mary J. Blige as a big surprise (to fill in for T.I. who is dealing with his...issues. Ughhhh back to jail he goes). It was hot, but I missed T.I.'s verse. "Fancy's" not the same without him. B.o.B performed "Airplanes" with Hayley Williams from Paramore, which is my song now! I definitely liked Hayley on it better than Keyshia (haha BET). And now, I feel like I'm gonna try to listen to Paramore more.

Like I said, Lady Gaga swept up this year. She got six awards, including the most coveted, "Video of the Year" She told her fans that she would announce the title of her upcoming album if she won that, and she did. Born This Way is the new album to look forward to Gaga fans! She even sang a little bit, which sounded really good. I was happy for her. It just wasn't a surprise when she won anything LOL.

Kanye closed out the show with "Runaway" featuring Pusha T which was about the situation too but more upbeat hahaha "Toast to all the doucebags" LMAO! He killed me with that song! Ye sang "I'm so gifted at finding what I don't like the most, so I think it's time for us to have a toast!" Pusha T rapped "I did it, all right, all right I admit it/Now pick your best move. You can leave or live with it." Uh huh Taylor, you listening?! LOL

Ok, so overall MTV kills BET as far as their shows and celebs. They definitely do things bigger and better. But this year, the 2010 BET Awards were 50 times better than the VMAs. If you didn't see it, check my review and favorite moments. There were a lot more electrifying performances and presentations (Ummmm HELLO Nia Long and Larenz Tate LOL). Last night, I was bored with the VMA's. I was just waiting for Kanye to close out the show so I could go finish my psychology homework. So this year, it's MTV who needs to step their game up for the show. Just my opinion. I'll probably put up some best and worst videos a little later. What did you guys think of the VMAs overall.

PEACE.

Morning yall...Happy Sunday!

According to Us Magazine, Mario Lopez and his girlfriend Courtney Mazza welcomed their baby daughter Gia Francesca Lopez, Saturday September 11 in Burbank, California. Gia weighed in at 6 lbs, 4 oz.

"We are so overjoyed. What an amazing, wonderful and overwhelming experience to welcome our daughter into the world," Mario had told Extra after Gia was born. The couple had waited until the actual delivery day to find out what they were having. "Where else in life do you get such special surprises?" Mario asked. "I hope with all our kids it will be a surprise." He is set to release a book for first-time dads sometime next year.

Awww....that's too cute. Slater is a dad! Haha he's never gonna get away from that. He and Courtney make a great couple and both of them are gorgeous, so I know that that baby is beautiful too! Congrats guys!

Good morning yall! TGIF right?! I just finished my first week of classes which wasn't so bad actually. Hope everybody else's week went well.

Exciting news! According to SingersRoom, Jay-Z has officially signed Miss Willow Smith, daughter of the legendary power couple Will and Jada Smith. Jay made the announcement Thursday morning on Ryan Seacrest's show.

"We at Roc Nation are excited to work with Willow," Jay-Z said in a statement. "She has an energy and enthusiasm about her music that is truly infectious. It's rare to find an artist with such innate talent and creativity at such a young age. Willow is about to embark on an incredible journey and we look forward to joining her as she grows in all aspects of her career."

Will and Jada are definitely supportive of Willow's career, and are excited about her being signed to Roc Nation. "After meeting with several record companies, it was clear that Jay-Z, Ty Ty, Jay Brown and the Roc Nation staff was the unquestionable choice," they said in a statement. "Their passion for Willow combined with their boundless vision and artistic integrity made Roc Nation the perfect home for our little girl."

The girl's only nine years old, but to me, is already showing that she's a star from her unique style to her musical ability. And she's under Jay too?! I know that she will take off. She has great potential, so I'm looking forward to her official debut! Listen to her song "Whip My Hair" below!

Morning everyone! Hope all is well. I'm up and about, about to get ready for class. Thought I would drop a small post to get the day started.

For all my Glee fans, Matthew Morrison, known better as Mr. Shue, is looking to drop his debut album in February of next year! According to OMG! Yahoo, Matthew is recording in between shots for the second season of Glee.

"I'm about three-quarters of the way done with the album," he says. "During our hiatus was the big chunk of putting it together -- it's full-time Glee right now. I'm trying to do it on the weekends." He also said the album's sound is eclectic, with "a lot of stuff that you would find on the adult contemporary charts, but stuff that I hope you'll hear in the club and you can dance to." He wants to tour after he is finished with the album.

Wow...that's good. Matthew has a pretty good voice and definitely a lot of energy. He's performed on Broadway, so he has a good amount of singing experience. I think a lot of fans would be down to buy and support. I definitely would. Would you?

For my GLEEKS, the new season of Glee premieres September 21!!! GET EXCITED!

PEACE.

Ok, so I have been wondering and wondering where this girl has been. Seems like after her last album, The High Road, and her Lifetime featured movie, True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet, singer JoJo disappeared off the face of the earth. I was worried she got dropped, but she is still signed to Blackground Records and is working on a deal so she can release her third album, which is set to come out early next year.

In the meantime, JoJo has given her fans a little present while they wait. Rap-Up.com provided us with JoJo's first mixtape, Can't Take That Away From Me! The 11-track tape features production from Chad Hugo of The Neptunes, Kenna, and Neff-U, among others.

JoJo said in a statement on her blog, “In releasing this mixtape, I’m affirming that even though some have tried they CAN’T TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME. “What is THAT? My voice, my spirit, my drive, my dreams. As you listen to these songs, I hope that they make your head nod, your mind tick, your emotions move, your belly laugh, and maybe elicit a ’stanky face’ or something ;) Lol.”

Well, I'm glad for this. I always thought that she was extremely talented, and I look forward to listening to the mixtape after I get out of my last class. 3 hours yall! Pray for me haha. Listen and download below!

Hey yall, hope all is well! It's Tuesday, and I'm officially starting class today! JUNIOR STATUS lol but I am going to be trying my absolute best to keep up with Spotlight for you guys.

Less than a year after the release of Rated R, Rihanna is back with the first song off her upcoming fifth studio album, Loud, which is set for release this fall. "Only Girl (In The World)" basically tells the story of a woman who wants her man to see that she's the only girl in the world for him, the only one who could really have his heart. It's gonna be blasting in the clubs soon. It has that rave feel *Jersey Shore fist pump now* haha. I really like it, and I'm looking forward to the new album. Through everything, Rihanna has been one of few artists I have supported from the very beginning of her career, so I hope that Loud will be good. Rihanna is also filming her first feature movie, Battleship, in Hawaii, and will be releasing a book featuring pics from the creation of Rated R. So there are some things to look forward to. Listen to "Only Girl (In The World)" below!

Blessed enough to do a spotlight on another upcoming artist!

Hailing from the DMV (yall better get hip to my area haha), David Barton, known as Wave Dave, is a 21-year-old upcoming singer. He's been doing gogo music for a while, which is a huge part of the DMV culture. Google if you don't know. Now he's adding R&B to his singing style.

Wave Dave first got the idea to sing when he was younger. He grew up watching music videos, especially of the late great Michael Jackson, and his parents played music and sang often, so music was something he picked up. His family is his main inspiration to pursue a career in singing.

While Wave Dave is doing R&B now, he still performs gogo music, serving as a singer of the ABM (All About Money) Band. The band plays at different spots around the DMV, and has had a few hits and gotten radio play. In fact, Wave Dave believes that gogo and the DMV is what makes him unique from other R&B artists. "It's one of the things that gives me edge, and makes me sound and come off different," he said. "The area that I'm from makes me the person that I am. The way I talk, the way I dress, the way I sound, that's where it comes from."

The singer has released one mixtape Take 1, which can be downloaded here. He is presently working on his second mixtape, Take 2, and is planning on releasing the first single from the mixtape around October.

In addition to his music, Wave Dave also makes beats and is willing to work with artists of any genre. He is also working on creating his own label. While music is something he does on the side for now, he would like to eventually make it a full time thing. When asked what keeps him going in pursuit of his dream, Wave Dave replied, "My love for music. Music is like a get away for me. The love for music makes me wanna make it." You can follow Dave on Twitter or check out his Reverb Nation page! He's really talented! Wish you best of luck

Listen to Take 1 below!

Hey yall...happy Friday. Sorry I've been slacking on the posts this week. Here are some pics of Rihanna on the set of the upcoming movie, Battleship, based on the actual game. Apparently, the cast of the movie is going to be fighting aliens in this one. It's being filmed in Hawaii right now, and is set for release on May 18, 2012. Check out some pics of Rihanna in her Navy uniform...wonder how her first movie role is going to turn out!
