Ok, so I'm a big Monica fan. She definitely has one of the best vocals in the game right now. Nobody can tell me any different. I first heard "Everything To Me" on her reality tv show, Still Standing, which is also the title of her next album. I thought that the song was soooo beautiful, and very much like Monica's style when she first came out. I know that she was struggling with her record company on picking a new single, and I feel that this single was a great move for her! The video is very interesting, and had a twist that I wasn't really expecting. Watch it for yourself, and enjoy!

Hey people, sorry for the delay in posts. School plus clubs plus no really interesting celeb news being out equals no posts on Spotlight for a couple of days.

However, I'm here right now to do a little advertising. There is a new blog at my school (yeah Greyhounds) called Loyola Looks (click the link to visit the site). It's a student run blog that focuses on the latest and hottest fashion across the world, and features our celebs, people around Baltimore, and students at Loyola University Maryland. So if you're into fashion, this would definitely be a great site for you to check out!

I'm in love with it already and it just launched this morning! The writers obviously have worked hard on it and the hard works shows! I will definitely be featuring this site every once in a while on the blog. Have to show some school pride, you know! Plus it's just a really hot site. It's new. It's fresh. It's Loyola Looks. So make sure you take a visit to the site!

When I first heard about the "We Are The World" remake Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones were doing with several of our current musical artists, I, along with several others I'm sure, was skeptical. I didn't know how it would be along side the 1985 original which, of course, featured the late great Michael Jackson, along with other talented artists of that time. When taking a listen to this updated version, I couldn't help smiling and laughing a a little, because you can definitely tell that the song has crossed over to reach my generation. I mean, you got T-Pain with his autotune, Justin Bieber and even Lil Wayne singing, and a whole rap verse featuring Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, among others. It was definitely cool to see LOL. And the crowd was sooooo diverse. I mean, you had Mary Mary, Pink, Gladys Knight, Mary J. Blige, Fergie, my girl Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Adam Levine, Toni Braxton, Miley Cyrus, Akon, Wyclef Jean, Usher, and so many other artists. Michael Jackson parts were featured as well. So watch the remake and the original and give thoughts about each one. The videos are featured after the jump.

"We Are The World" 2010

"We Are The World" 1985

It was a good remake to me. Other people may not think so, but I would say that, just like the 1985 version, this remake had a purpose. Its purpose was to show the world that we can all come together AS ONE, no matter what our differences, to lend a helping hand to those in need. And that's what matters. Not who was featured, not how it was sung, but the true purpose behind the song's original meaning. Seeing so many different artists in different genres was a beautiful sight to me.

The "We Are The World: 25 For Haiti" 2010 version of the 1985 Classic was dedicated to the Haiti disaster. It can be downloaded at World 25.org. All proceeds go to helping the Haitian people rise again. So please give. They need us.

I love the song. What can I say? And she finally has a Barbados feel again in the video. It's a kinda weird video to me, BUT THERE'S COLOR!!! AND DANCING!!! It's nice to see a piece of the old Rihanna back again. Enjoy the video!

So it seems Weezy is a free man, at least for a couple of more weeks. Today, Wayne got a temporary reprieve from his jail sentence for previous gun charges--for dental surgery. According to Yahoo! News, Wayne has a few surgeries to finish up before starting his time. His sentencing is now scheduled for March 2. Manhattan state Supreme Court Justice Charles Solomon said it wouldn't be put off any further.

Well hey, Wayne, glad to have you still even if it's only for a few more weeks. Keep your head up. Keeping you and the family in my thoughts.

So I guess Ray J might have found his real love in his second season finale of For the Love of Ray J, because apparently he has moved on to a new reality show (still gotta pay them bills). According to BET.com Entertainment, this new show will feature Ray, his big sis Brandy, and his parents. The show will be titled Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business. Read the synopsis after the jump....

SYNOPSIS: Siblings Brandy and Ray J Norwood are famous for their incredible vocal talent on the stage and screen. But they wouldn’t be anywhere without the support and guidance of their parents – entertainment manager and mom, Sonja and talented musical father, Willie Norwood. Viewers will get a first hand glimpse into the lives of the Norwood family unit and their family business – Rn’B Productions [I like that play off names--Rn' (Ray J Norwood) and B (Brandy). Cute.] Run by Sonja, Rn’B Productions features an impressive roster of musical artists including Brandy, Ray J and their father Willie, who also serves as the company’s vocal coach. But with Sonja ready to take a step down, Brandy and Ray J will have to fill her shoes quickly all the while taking the family business to the next level. Will they have what it takes to continue to stay in the limelight while growing an entertainment empire?

The show will feature Brandy and Ray J each recording their new albums. Hmmm....sounds interesting. I'm a reality TV junkie so I'm definitely gonna tune in. For those of you who are down to watch too, the show will premiere on VH1 on Sunday April 11 at 9 p.m. EST.

Ok, so I've been MIA from here for a minute. Now I reappear with clips from the 52nd Grammy Awards that were held Sunday night. Ok, now I didn't watch the full show because I was working on a huge school project, but through Twitter and Facebook (gotta love social networking lol), I read about some of the highlights of the night and watched the clips. So I'm gonna post what I thought was hot and what was definitely not. Check the vids after the jump.

BEYONCE THANKS JAY-Z IN ACCEPTANCE SPEECH FOR FEMALE POP VOCAL PERFORMANCE
Ok so this was huge, because B has never publicly mentioned Jay-Z as her husband, least of all in an acceptance speech. I mean, we all know that they're married, but for Beyoncé to publicly thank him is awesome. They are definitely a power couple!

MAXWELL PERFORMANCE OF "PRETTY WINGS"
Need I say more. It's Maxwell! He killed it!

TAYLOR SWIFT WINS ALBUM OF THE YEAR?!!! WTH?!!!!!
Yooooo when I read this on a friend's Twitter, I honestly screamed "What the hell?!" Album of the Year?! I give the girl country, because she is a popular country artist. But Album of the Year?! No. I mean, seriously, I know Beyoncé won 6 awards last night (breaking the female record for most Grammys won btw), but my goodness, you know she deserved it. Or Lady Gaga. Not a big fan, but I'm sure her album was better than Taylor's. I'm sorry to all you Taylor Swift fans, but I honestly believe that the only reason Taylor got that award was because of the Kanye incident at the VMAs. And it's a shame. Later on Taylor dropped a Grammy though, and it shattered into a million pieces. If it was this one, good. LMAO! Sorry Taylor, but that award was just not for you. Still shaking my head at this nonsense....

LASTLY...
MICHAEL JACKSON TRIBUTE FEATURING LIONEL RICHIE, CELINE DION, USHER, CARRIE UNDERWOOD, JENNIFER HUDSON, SMOKEY ROBINSON, AND MJ'S CHILDREN, PRINCE MICHAEL AND PARIS JACKSON
It was an amazing sight to see. All of these artists coming together to sing "Earth Song." Michael loved the environment, and it showed through this song. And it was a
3D performance! People in the audience could watch the corresponding short movie that was going to be shown at his tour in London. It was good to see MJ's kids at the end accepting a Lifetime Achievement award for their father (which I felt came a little too late personally but I digress) I thought they seemed a little out of place there, and definitely nervous, but it was still nice to see them.

So there are my favorite moments from a show that I didn't watch in full LOL. But hey, this is all I needed.

PEACE.
